If your firm is trying to figure out AI β€” what to actually use, how to implement it, and what comes next β€” John Higgins is the person you want in the room.

John is the Founder of Higgins Advisory, LLC and has founded and sold two CPA technology advisory startups. He now helps accounting professionals understand and apply emerging technologies in practical, firm-ready ways.

This Thursday at Together We Thrive, John is leading two sessions:

πŸ€– Powering the Small Accounting and Tax Firm with AI
A practical roadmap covering AI concepts, the tool landscape, everyday applications, and how to build your firm's adoption plan β€” followed by roundtable discussion with your peers.

πŸ— Building a Sustainable, Future-Ready Practice
Beyond AI: advisory services, alternative fee models, staffing strategy, and proactively preparing your firm for rapid industry transformation β€” followed by peer discussion on what others are actually doing.

This is not a lecture. Every session includes guided peer discussion so you're learning from the room, not just the stage.

πŸ“’ Maryland families: your Child Tax Credit just went up.

Starting tax year 2026, the maximum Maryland Child Tax Credit increases from $1,000 to $1,250 per qualifying child β€” that's a $250 increase per child, signed into law this session.

What tax professionals should do now:
βœ… Review client withholding amounts
βœ… Update estimated tax payments
βœ… Factor the higher credit into family tax planning conversations

This is one of several personal income tax changes from the 2026 Maryland Legislative Session. MSATP reviewed 119 bills this session to keep Maryland tax professionals informed and ahead of the curve.
