April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

We’re encouraged to see leaders across South Carolina coming together at the SC State House to recognize the importance of keeping children safe and supported.

The Early Childhood Common Agenda (ECCA) supports efforts to strengthen families and improve outcomes for young children across our state.

We were proud to help host the inaugural South Carolina Higher Education Institutions: Student Engagement & Advocacy Day at the State House.

More than 50 students representing 13 colleges and universities from across South Carolina came together to learn the fundamentals of advocacy, connect with one another, and engage directly with policymakers.

Throughout the day, students walked the halls of the State House, connected with lawmakers, and saw how decisions are made—and how their voices can play a role in shaping them.

Thank you to our partners who made this day possible: the Institute for Child Success, , , and the Early Childhood Common Agenda.

A special thank you to Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP for allowing students to use their conference room. Students felt welcomed and supported in such a professional space.

And most importantly, thank you to the students who showed up, asked questions, and stepped into these spaces with confidence. Your leadership matters!

Your lived experience matters, and it’s one of the most powerful tools you bring to advocacy!

Valentina showed up and made her voice heard at the State House 💗
From posing like a superstar to sharing about her six kittens, she reminded us that every voice—big or small—matters.

She said she’s ready to advocate—are you?
