VAlanthropy is launching the 100 Founding Village Builders Challenge—and we are looking for 100 people ready to help create a stronger foundation for veterans.

The challenge is simple:

Commit $20 a month for at least 12 months.
Become one of our 100 Founding Village Builders.
Share the challenge on social media.
Personally invite two people to join you.
Follow our progress throughout the year.

One Founding Village Builder provides $240 over one year.

Together, 100 Founding Village Builders can provide $24,000 in dependable annual support for VAlanthropy’s mission and the continued development and long-term sustainability of Hidden Wounds Village Alpha.

This is not about one large donation. It is about 100 people choosing to build together.

Today we celebrate 250 years of freedom, sacrifice, resilience, and the enduring spirit that has shaped our nation

As we gather with family and friends, we also pause to honor the generations of service members and veterans who have defended those freedoms. Their commitment reminds us that the strength of America is found in the people who continue to serve long after the uniform comes off.

From all of us at VAlanthropy, we wish you a safe, joyful, and meaningful Fourth of July.

May your day be filled with gratitude, community, and pride in the nation we all call home.

Our website is temporarily offline while we make improvements, but our work at VAlanthropy continues.

Construction is moving forward at Hidden Wounds Village Alpha, and we are still working every day to build a veteran-focused community centered on housing, healing, stability, and long-term support.

While the website is being updated, there are still ways to stay connected and support the mission:

Another important step forward for VAlanthropy - Hidden Wounds Village Alpha.

VAlanthropy CEO Fred Altman met with architect Larry Woodrum to finalize the project plans being sent to the SC Housing Trust Fund.

This is the kind of work most people never see, but it is what moves a project from vision to reality. Plans are reviewed. Details are checked. Requirements are prepared. Each responsible step brings us closer to permanent affordable housing for veterans in Sumter.

We are grateful for the professionals, partners, donors, and community supporters helping move this mission forward.

A future for veterans is taking shape, one step at a time.

Some names deserve a place that lasts.

The Legacy Brick Campaign gives families, friends, businesses, and community supporters a way to honor a veteran, remember a loved one, or leave a visible mark on Hidden Wounds Village Alpha.

These engraved bricks will surround the community flag plaza, where veterans will gather to raise and lower the American flag.

Each brick tells a story.

A story of service.
A story of sacrifice.
A story of family.
A story of community support.

Your brick also helps VAlanthropy finish and prepare homes for veterans beginning a new chapter in Sumter, South Carolina.

This is more than a donation.

It is a permanent reminder that veterans are not forgotten, and that this community chose to help build something lasting.

A house is not the whole solution.

For veterans experiencing housing instability, safe housing is the foundation — but long-term stability also requires connection, support, dignity, and community.

That is the purpose behind VAlanthropy's Hidden Wounds Village Alpha.

VAlanthropy is leading the development and infrastructure of this project in Sumter, South Carolina, with a focus on building more than housing. We are helping create a permanent supportive community where veterans can begin again with stability and respect.

This work matters because temporary answers are not enough.

What a weekend at the 2026 South Carolina VFW State Convention.

Over the past few days, we have had the opportunity to meet veterans, VFW and Auxiliary members, community leaders, and supporters from across South Carolina. We shared the progress of Hidden Wounds Village Alpha, answered questions about our mission, and connected with people who care deeply about the future of veterans in our state.

We are excited to announce that our YETI Giveaway raised more than $1,200 to help furnish apartments for veterans who will soon call Hidden Wounds Village Alpha home.

We also received tremendous interest in our Legacy Brick Campaign, which gives families, friends, and supporters a meaningful way to honor service, remember loved ones, and leave a lasting mark on this community.

A special thank you to VFW Post 6740 for sponsoring our booth and to District 2 Commander Ginger Graham for helping make these connections possible.

Hidden Wounds Village Alpha is more than a construction project. It is VAlanthropy's flagship initiative to create permanent, affordable housing for low-income residents, supportive partnerships, and long-term stability for veterans.

The conversations, encouragement, and support we received this weekend remind us why this work matters.
