WREN, the Women's Rights and Empowerment Network, is a new organization whose mission is to build a movement to advance the health, economic well-being, and rights of South Carolina’s women, girls, and their families. WREN aims to be the voice for South Carolina’s women, girls, and gender-expansive people by:

-Advocating for laws and policies to enhance the status of women and the well-being of f

amilies;

-Educating policymakers and the public about issues that affect women, girls and their families; and,

-Empowering South Carolinians to speak up and speak out for a better state. We seek to build a diverse, inclusive, and powerful movement for the rights of women and girls.

Childcare is one of the biggest challenges facing South Carolina families and the numbers only tell part of the story. Across the state, families are navigating childcare deserts, rising costs, long waitlists, and difficult decisions about work and caregiving.

Now, South Carolinians have a chance to tell policymakers what those numbers look like in real life.

The Joint Citizens and Legislative Committee on Children is holding public hearings across the state this fall to hear directly from families and communities about what’s working, what isn’t, and what South Carolina can do better.

During the 2025–2026 legislative session, thousands of South Carolinians took action, showed up at community events, shared their experiences, and helped move important conversations forward.
