HOPEfully, everyone knows the work we do as a non-profit organization to 3D print hands for children. You may not know for this time of need we have shifted our mission and resources to produce 3D printed emergency medical supplies, such as face-shields, for those in need. We are already producing a small amount with what we have operating 24/7, but we can do more. So we are conducting a drive to raise funding to increase our production, raise awareness, and find connections with those in need. If you could take a minute to read our story and share it with others, we would appreciate it greatly. Stay home and stay safe!

Hands On Prosthetic Engineering is a non profit company that 3D prints custom prosthetic devices for veterans and children in need at no cost to them.

Pictured above is our newest Hulk Hands**

Did you know that on average one prosthetic device costs $5,000-$50,000 to create? These devices are also also created for those with traditional amputations/ deformities. Many of our clients do not have traditional amputations/deformities and/or they need a task specific device that is not available else where. Our devices are custom designed for each client!

While some may have access these medical devices, the financial burden it can put on families is extreme. Some amputees will receive grants to help pay for their devices however, many will not. HOPE’s devices are free to each child and veteran and cost approximately $20-$50 to create. By 3D printing we can drastically cut costs and help ease the financial worry!

*disclaimers: 1. these are for full grown adults without an amputation/deformity and it contains a grip bar, does not display accurate sizing for our clients. 2. We do not own any rights to the name hulk hands*

Welcome to Hands On Prosthetic Engineering's non profit page! HOPE 3D prints prosthetic and adaptive devices for children and veterans at no cost to them! CHeck out the video below to get a glimpse of what we do!

Each of our designs are custom to each client. Many of our clients do not have a traditional amputation or deformity and thus standard prosthetic devices are not compatible for them. While some of our designs are altered from a basic design, most of our client's prosthesis are brand new designs that are custom to them and their needs. Some of our veterans have prosthetics provided by the Veterans Association but our work provides them assistive devices that make using their device easier and allows them to perform more tasks!

Meet the Team!
Abby Herschman - Cofounder/ Chief Executive Officer

Abby Herschman graduated from the University of South Carolina in December 2018. She was a Mechanical Engineering Major, Pre-Med, and Dance Minor during her time as an undergraduate student. Born and raised in Columbia, Maryland, Abby grew up as a competitive gymnast and late in high school transitioned to dance. Abby has always had an interest in engineering and medicine, which lead to founding Hands On Prosthetic Engineering. Abby is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of H.O.P.E. Seeing the reaction on client’s faces when they receive their prosthesis is the best part of H.O.P.E. for her. Abby started H.O.P.E. to allow children to gain confidence and provide devices to children and veterans who would otherwise not have a device. Her vision for the future is that H.O.P.E. will continue to grow and one day help children across the nation.
