Second Chance Homes & Garden

Second Chance Homes & Garden The Second Chance Garden is a partnership between churches and community organizations and is located within the College Hill Community of East Columbia.

We believe that every person is made in the image of Christ, and is offered abundant life in Him. To that end, the Second Chance Homes and Gardens are a place that folks who have burned every bridge can come to hear of the love and salvation of Christ, and be offered a second chance at life. It's a family friendly place, and students and kids are welcome! For the second year, the Maury County Boys

and Girls Club will be one of our partners, both volunteering in the garden and harvesting produce to use as part of their Culinary Arts training program and for students’ families. Shine Homeschool Tutorial is also partnering with us this year, as well as churches, families and individuals. We use the "Back to Eden" method of gardening, using compost and wood chips as mulch to feed our soil, and to limit the amount of weeding we do. However, there's still plenty of work for anyone else who desires to join us! Our volunteers help prepare the soil each year with compost and by spreading wood chips, they plant seeds and plants, prune plants, and inevitably, have to help with some weeding. We use organic practices, and learn as we go! The fun really begins when we are able to harvest our produce. Volunteers are welcome to take garden produce home with them.
