Reunification is not a single moment for a family but is built upon supported transitions over time.

Through consistent support, communication and connection communities play a role in the process to ensure families are better positioned to move forward with stability.

Reunification reflects progress. And when it’s supported together, it helps strengthen both families and the communities around them.

When Nicole, a SAFY foster parent, first considered fostering, she thought about what changes for youth when consistency is present. Over time, her perspective deepened.

Foster care isn’t about stepping in for a family, but about walking alongside youth and the people who matter most to them. This often includes building relationships with primary families through small, everyday actions that build trust over time. These moments help build trust and support stronger transitions over time.
