South Carolina Association of Veterinarians The South Carolina Association of Veterinarians (SCAV), established in 1911, is a non-profit association representing veterinarians.

SCAV provides continuing education and other professional development opportunities to advance the animal – human bond. One of the main objectives of the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians is to provide professional education to our members. To this end, SCAV schedules a variety of sessions at its small and large animal academies, the Southeast Veterinary Conference, and its annual conference. As a membership benefit, SCAV members receive complimentary registration to the annual small animal academy and great discounts to the other conferences. In addition, each event provides opportunities for industry partners to meet with veterinarians and share information about their products and services. The Southeast Veterinary Conference and the SCAV Annual Conference also provide attendees with several down-time programs. All events offer continuing education credit for veterinarians and veterinary technicians.

Did you know that tens of thousands of people STILL die each year from rabies? These are mostly from dog bites in underserved regions of the world. World Rabies day began in 2007 to educate and promote awareness of this deadly disease that is STILL in every corner of the globe.

There are still a few spots left for our Cytology Wet Lab in Clemson at the Palmetto Veterinary Conference! Dr. Rimoldi has worked in Diagnostic Pathology and research in multiple institutions from Argentina to Germany to the United States. He has also published more than 25 articles on international peer reviewed journals and has given oral presentations multiple times at the ACVP, AAVLD, SEVPAC meetings and has hosted Pathology workshops abroad. SCAV is pleased to welcome Dr. Randy Basinger to speak at the 2026 Palmetto Veterinary Conference in Clemson, SC. Dr. Basinger has published 5 textbook chapters and 14 scientific articles and is a frequent lecturer at the local, state, national, and international level. He has served in all the offices of the SC VMA and has been honored as the SC Veterinarian of the Year and UGA Distinguished alumnus of the year. He has been the chair of the ACVS Foundation Board of Trustees, Past-President of the Veterinary Orthopedic Society and is the current SC Awards Chair. He also currently serves on the board of Piedmont Veterinary Technical College and is Vice-President of the board of PAALS, a service dog training center. We are honored to have him!

We're talking about Small Ruminants at the 2026 Palmetto Veterinary Conference in November and we're getting Dr. Danielle Myzk's help to do it! Dr. Myzk is a field service clinical veterinarian in the Department of Population Health and Pathobiology at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her PhD (2018) and DVM (2019) degrees from NC State CVM. Prior to her current role at NC State, Dr. Mzyk practiced as a mixed animal veterinarian in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin specializing in small ruminant health.
