Missouri native plant - Packera obovata (round-leaved ragwort) looks wonderful with bright yellow flowers in the spring. The leaves make an attractive ground cover. It grows in shade and tolerates dry conditions. Added bonus, the deer do not like it. It spreads by windblown seeds and runners. Cut off the spent flower heads to prevent it from spreading by windblown seeds.

Missouri native plant - the large, bright yellow flowers of my celandine poppy add a pop of vivid color in early spring! It grows in partial to full shade. It naturalizes by self-seeding. Unfortunately, the deer occasionally browse on it.
