On behalf of the Columbia (MO) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., I would like to congratulate the recipients of the City of Columbia’s 2025–2026 Love Your Block Mini-Grant Program.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Noble Court Neighborhood Watch Group, Brenda Hartley, and Ward 1 Council Member Valerie Carroll for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to strengthening our community.

The Noble Court Neighborhood Watch Group, which I proudly serve as Co-Chair, will be recognized as Columbia's first Black neighborhood. Founded in 1958 by Lewis Monroe Noble and Mary Noble, Noble Court holds a significant place in Columbia's history. Mr. Noble, a respected local businessman, purchased eight plots of land to help African American families achieve homeownership during a time when many were denied access to loans due to racial discrimination.

This recognition honors the rich legacy of the Noble family and celebrates the neighborhood's enduring contributions to community development, resilience, and opportunity.

Congratulations again on this well-deserved recognition and thank you for your continued service to the residents of Columbia.

This National Hazing Prevention Week, we embrace the theme "Protecting the Bond: Leading Hazing Prevention Through Care, Courage, and Accountability," while continuing our commitment to Violets Over Violence.

Throughout National Hazing Prevention Week, our focus will be on education, awareness, reflection, and action. Through thought-provoking conversations, engaging activities, and intentional opportunities for learning, we will work together to challenge and dismantle harmful practices while strengthening behaviors that promote safety, belonging, confidence, respect, and genuine sisterhood.

On August 29, 2026, the Columbia MO Alumnae Chapter held its annual chapter retreat in preparation for the 2026-2027 sorority year. The theme of our retreat and for our sororal year is, “Our Commitment Together - Reflect, Rejuvenate, and Activate”. We are so excited to continue to serve Columbia and the surrounding communities.
