Kensley Fuller Scholarship

Kensley Fuller Scholarship Scholarship awarded yearly to a Hammond senior pursuing a career in healthcare in memory of “Keke”

This scholarship is in memory of our beloved daughter Kensley Ellen Fuller who everyone knows as "KEKE". She contracted an unknown virus attacking her respiratory system that caused complete lung failure. She was brought to MUSC's Childrens Hospital from Palmetto Richland Childrens Hospital where she fought very hard from May 2013 until her passing July 19, 2013 at the age of 6 . She left behind h

er parents, an older brother, older sister, 4 year old niece and sadly a twin brother. Her dream at her young age was to become a physician and attend USC's School of medicine wanting to become a cardiothoracic surgeon. We will be awarding this scholarship in her memory to a female med school student attending USC's School of Medicine. This scholarship will be awarded annually to the same student until graduation at which time a new recipient will be chosen the following summer.

This year‘s scholarship recipient was especially special to our family. She would’ve been part of the class of 2025 with her brother. A lot of people are under the impression that we do the picking. We do not. We leave that to the good folks at Hammond School, who know the students inside and out who know their interests, who know their exceptional academics I know where they will be moving forward. We just funded it. 💰😂(and and thrilled and blessed to be able

The Kensley Fuller Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Zamam Lone. Zamam has had a lifelong dream to be an interventional cardiologist, so he and Keke would have had a lot to talk about when it comes to matters of the heart! A Cum Laude scholar, Junior Marshal, National Merit Finalist, and AP Scholar with Distinction, Zamam is one of Hammonds strongest students and has done more than any other member of his class to explore and prepare for the field of medicine. He was the catalyst behind bringing HOSA - an organization for students interested in pursuing health professions - to Hammond, and this year serves as its President. He has volunteered at the Medical University of South Carolina for two summers, caring for patients who have undergone heart surgery. He has volunteered nearly 200 hours in the VA Hospital, helping veteran patients and sterilizing medical equipment, and he has conducted research in the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, assisting a professor with research on aortic valves in mice. He has also shadowed medical professionals both here and in India. There is no one more deserving or more prepared to have a successful medical career than Zamam! And as a bonus and tho he may not remember I do and she always considered the mom a friend💛💛
Our family wishes him the best of luck although I don’t think we need to he is talented and will succeed!

Drumroll please… For the graduating class of 2024 at Hammond School. We have 2 recipients of the Kensley Fuller Memorial scholarship. This scholarship is awarded each year to an exemplary student who wishes to pursue a career in the field of healthcare. It should also be noted that the students are typically not just someone who excels and exceeds expectations academically but they are exemplary in every way shape or form in daily student life. Our first recipient is Miss Simone Okereke. Simone will be attending Emory University pre-Med wanting to pursue a career in dermatology! The second recipient is Miss Ella James. Ella will be attending Clemson University Honors College with a major in biological sciences and a minor in Spanish. She hopes to become a Physician’s Assistant in the future. With all our heart, we wish these two young ladies (who would have been in first grade when Keke passed away.) the very best of luck in pursuing their dreams and may God bless them wherever they go. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

To date there have been 2 years (3 recipients) thus far of Kensley Fuller Endowed Scholarship recipients at Hammond School and our 3rd years recipient is about to be announced tomorrow. I had not posted pictures of previous recipients. I wanted to respect privacy, but so many wanted to keep up with the scholarship to see what we were still doing in Kensley’s memory through the school that she loved & attended Hammond School in Columbia, South Carolina. Our first years recipients, Hammond actually decided to split the scholarship between two students… Caroline Mueckler and Carter Montgomery. These were 2 outstanding young ladies interested in the field of healthcare. Caroline went on to attend the Honors College at Clemson and is a Health Science major specializing in Preprofessional Health. She is hoping to attend medical school after Clemson.
Carter attended the University of Georgia’s honors program with a major in biochemistry and molecular biology and will graduate in 2025 where she will continue her education in medical school. We are very proud of these two recipients and thankful we were able to contribute to their education in a very small way through this scholarship that honors the memory of our daughter Kensley Fuller. We can’t wait to see this year’s recipient or recipients!!

Some testimonials from students on how
their small Scholarship helped in more
ways than you would think. This made my heart happy to know we are doing something helpful.

A few thousand, or even a few hundred, dollars may not feel worth the work, but small scholarships have plenty of benefits you may not have considered.

We are anticipating the recognition of the 3rd years recipient of the Kensley Fuller Memorial Scholarship to another Hammond senior. This years class were 2nd graders when our Keke passed away. I’m sure the parents of this years graduating class felt the years went by far too quickly. Our family is excited to see who the recipient will be out of this distinguished class of 2023!

This is an annual scholarship awarded to a graduating senior at Hammond School entering the field of healthcare. This scholarship is in memory of our 6 year old daughter who more than anything wanted to be a cardio thoracic surgeon and she attended Hammond School. She passed away at the end of her kindergarten year in 2013. We present this scholarship as a gift in her memory.

The Fuller Family Foundation is happy and thankful to announce the establishment of an endowed scholarship at Hammond School in memory of Kensley Ellen Fuller. Keke “as she was known” completed PreK and Kindergarten Hammond School in Columbia SC. She dearly loved her school and teachers and friends. Her twin brother and baby sister currently attend Hammond School and her loss is still remembered so this memorial scholarship is very special to the family indeed! ❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙

Each year the Kensley Fuller Memorial Scholarship will award $2000 to an outstanding Hammond senior interested in pursuing a career in any field of healthcare in honor of little Kensleys extreme love of learning any and everything medicine related. This years award ceremony will be in May. We are excited to see who the recipient will be!!!
