Palmetto Baseball League

Palmetto Baseball League PBL was founded in 1956 with a goal of using the game of baseball to facilitate the development of our youth through teamwork and sportsmanship.

Background:

Columbia’s youth have had the opportunity to participate in Palmetto Baseball League (PBL) for over 60 years. PBL, a 501(c) 3 organization, was founded in 1956 with a goal of using the game of baseball to facilitate the development of our youth through teamwork and sportsmanship. PBL has two seasons, offering children the opportunity to compete in both the Spring and Fall. The most re

cent spring season saw approximately 400 kids participating on one of 36 teams, divided over four divisions. The league functions solely on the basis of dedicated individuals and organizations who volunteer their time, energy, and resources to provide guidance and support to the participating children. The volunteer coaches provide excellent instruction to improve the basic baseball fundamentals. Players are encouraged to develop their skills, play with full effort, and most importantly, have fun. While the league is competitive, winning is secondary to the growth and development of good sportsmanship in our players, coaches, and the families those individuals represent. PBL Capital Campaign:

PBL has embarked on a new journey as the league acquired land near Heathwood Hall Episcopal School that will become the home to a new PBL complex. This complex will provide a permanent home for our league and will provide all participants a venue to develop lifelong experiences around community, sportsmanship, teamwork, and camaraderie. The new baseball complex is anticipated to cost approximately $1,200,000 to build and will include –

Three fields
Large parking lot
Canteen/bathroom building
Three scoreboards and score booths
Fields with covered dugouts
Two covered batting cages
Bleachers and fan view areas

How to Donate
