Fighting Chronic Illness Together is officially a year old!

Hey everyone, Mary Ellen here to announce possibly the coolest news ever - FCIT has officially been open for 365 days. This organization has taken possibly the darkest time of my life and rewritten it into a narrative filled with hope for myself and others. FCIT has changed my life and so many others’ by simply existing and I can’t believe I get to say I’ve been a part of that change. I genuinely cannot believe how far this organization has gone and I certainly cannot wait to see how far it will go. Like Bella said “FCIT has become part of our lives” and we couldn’t imagine our futures without it. Please remember that you are loved and have a community here ready to support you in every way possible because nobody deserves to fight in this battle alone. Light blue will forever be my body armor! 🩵🩵

It’s Mary Ellen’s 18th Birthday!! We are so thankful for the joy and dedication that Mary Ellen has brought to FCIT. 🩵🩵🩵

Hey everyone! This past weekend I was able to go spend some much needed vacation time with my friends and I got some pretty fun photos too. However, what those photos don’t show is the physical battle I’ve been in over the last month. Starting December 8th I got a migraine that went on to last two weeks. I was in so much pain constantly that my body started revolting by throwing up and blacking out. I kept having to push myself to go to school for exams and other end of semester obligations when I really didn’t need to. On the second slide you will see a bruise from the liter of fluid I had to get in attempt to finally kick the last of my symptoms. I wanted to share this story to remind everyone out there struggling with their health that you never truly know what someone’s going through. Additionally, if you feel like you are struggling alone just remember there are others who might be fighting in silence. I hope everyone had an amazing holiday season and a happy new year!

Special shoutout to .hdj for supporting those with chronic illness by donating her hair!!

“I first found out about FCIT when I saw my friend wearing a FCIT hoodie! I bought one to match, and I became interested in Bella and Mary Ellen’s mission of raising awareness for chronic illnesses. I wanted to find other ways to support their mission, so I decided to cut and donate over 10 inches of my hair!” — Hannah Jewell

You are so amazing, Hannah!! 🩵

Last month, we were invited to attend the annual Good Days Exchange Conference to receive the Len Rodgers Spirit Award! Len Rodgers was widely regarded not just in the Good Days community but the world for his commitment to helping those in need. This recognition is given each year to individual(s) who “dedicate their life to serving people in need.” To know that we have made such an impact in the eyes of the great people of Good Days including Len Rodgers as teenagers has entirely changed our perspectives — allowing us to see just how far FCIT has gone in its short time. We are beyond honored to be recognized in the name of such an admirable man, who dedicated his life to helping others.

Good Days thank you for putting on such an amazing event! We were able to network to continue to build our cycle of awareness all while rocking our western attire. Getting to listen to Dr. Luana Marques, Paralympian Blake Leeper, and bio tech expert Daniel Kraft speak was nothing short of remarkable! This event truly showcased all the good people out there fighting for those with chronic diseases everyday!

Today we were so excited to participate in our school’s “twin day.” We loved getting to show off our FCIT adventures with our T-shirts that we bought on our FCIT adventure to Dallas, Tx. We love getting to have fun as we remember the amazing things and people FCIT has brought into our lives. We hope everyone is able to find those people that let them unapologetically have fun enjoying the joys of life no matter the circumstances, and that FCIT can serve as a resource for anyone to find those people.

Fun fact: IN-N-OUT is one of Bella’s all time favorite fast food restaurants, so she was beyond excited to add a pit stop to our expo and Dallas experience. She was even able to educate some local Texans on the “secrete” menu.

FCIT making an impact. This past week we were so blessed to watch and their entire staff receive their FCIT original hoodies. Throughout FCIT’s journey Good Days has become more than the nonprofit we donate too - they have become family. Watching people who have dedicated their lives to supporting those with chronic diseases unwavering support in all of our efforts has been nothing short of awe inspiring! Thank you to Good Days and your amazing team for everything yall are and everything yall have done and continue to do for those with chronic diseases every day!

Hey everyone! Today we are going to highlight some fantastic women who have made a difference in the medical field throughout history! Without these leaders and innovators the health industry wouldn’t be where it is today and certainly wouldn’t be able to help the way it does now.
