South Carolina Orchid Society An AOS Affiliate. The South Carolina Orchid Society (SCOS), an affiliate of the American Orchid Society, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Garden Club Council of Greater Columbia Building at
1605 Park Circle, Columbia SC
(corner of Blossom and Pickens Streets- near USC) We welcome all individuals – – SCOS does not discriminate on the basis of age, color, disability, gender, national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientations, race, religion, or veteran status – – who delight in

growing and enjoying orchids. The South Carolina Orchid Society has been inspiring orchid growers for more than 40 years by sharing a variety of information about orchids including culture, conservation, and hybridization. One way this is accomplished is through regular programs featuring the foremost speakers on orchid related topics. The Society also exhibits in several regional orchid shows each year. Our Mission is to educate and inform our members and the general public by promoting the culture, hybridization, and conservation of orchids

Our meetings usually have a speaker or workshop on a pre-set topic- then a section for "show and tell" where you can bring in your orchids and display them and talk to the group about how you grow them or ask specific questions you might have. Following this- we typically have a raffle where donated plants and supplies are offered to anybody who's purchased raffle ticket is selected for that day.

It's been a HOT summer- but all are welcome to join us in the COOL CLASSROOM for our next South Carolina Orchid Society Meeting on SUNDAY, AUGUST 16th in Columbia, SC.

We are excited to welcome back Mark Reinke of Marble Branch Farms as he talks to us about mounting your orchids! It's a great way to grow certain plants and it's a lot easier to do that you might think!

Mark will be bringing lots of amazing plants for sale and doing a hands-on demonstration to show you how you can add mounted plants to your collection!

We can't wait to see you there!!!

ARE YOU READY FOR A GREAT EVENT??

Our sister society- The Coastal Carolina Orchid Society - is hosting their annual Orchid Auction and it's coming up in just TWO WEEKS!!
All are welcome- no membership required!!!

Make the short drive down to North Charleston, SC on Sunday, August 9th, 2026 and you are sure to have a fantastic day!!

First- the group has their delicious pot-luck luncheon at 12:30-
then- the LIVE AUCTION will begin around 1:15 PM!!!

They will have giveaways- tons of beautiful plants (from seedlings - to adult plants to blooming specimens!!) and it's a whole lot of fun!!!!

Be sure to stop by the ATM on the way!!!
They accept CASH- CHECKS- or VENMO!!!
So come hungry and leave with a carload of beautiful orchids!!

A reminder that our July meeting is tomorrow- Sunday, July 19th- starting at 1 pm in Columbia SC.

We have a very special speaker- Dave Off from Waldor Orchids in New Jersey and in addition to a great discussion on how you can curate a fantastic cattleya collection-
HE IS BRINGING PLANTS FOR SALE!!

Here is a sneak peek of just some of the amazing plants he will have available!

We are at the Greater Columbia Garden Council Building at 1605 Park Circle, Columbia SC (corner of Blossom and Pickens Streets)

The meeting begins at 1 pm and our meetings are open to all!!!

We have a very special meeting planned for you in July!!!
David Off from Waldor Orchids in New Jersey is making a trip down South and we can't wait to host him in Columbia!!

Dave is widely known in the orchid community and brings tons of experience and knowledge with him on cattleya orchids and how to grown and develop a fantastic collection!

Be sure to come early to SHOP orchids from Waldor and be sure to check out our raffle table as well!!

It's going to be a great meeting and we hope to see you all there!!
