💛 Homeschool Parents, this is your reminder:

You do not have to earn rest.

Not by finishing every workbook.
Not by checking off every lesson.
Not by ending the year exactly as you planned.

As another homeschool year comes to a close, many parents are carrying more than just lesson plans. You're carrying the mental load of planning, teaching, managing schedules, answering questions, making meals, and pouring yourself into your family day after day.

It's okay if you're tired.

It's okay if a few pages didn't get completed.

It's okay if your year didn't look exactly how you imagined it would.

The truth is, homeschooling is not measured by completed curriculum. It's measured in conversations, growth, relationships, character, curiosity, and the countless moments that happen between the lessons.

🌿 Summer doesn't have to be another season of striving.

It can be a season of:
✨ Rest
✨ Renewal
✨ Family memories
✨ Reading for fun
✨ Exploring together
✨ Simply enjoying your children

Give yourself permission to pause.

The workbook will still be there.

These summer moments won't.

💛 What is one way your family plans to rest, recharge, or make memories this summer?

🎓💛 Kindergarten Graduation is almost here!

This Saturday, May 30th, we’ll celebrate some very special graduates as they finish their kindergarten year and step into the exciting adventures ahead.

“You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so… get on your way!” — Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You’ll Go!

What a joy it is to watch these little learners grow in confidence, curiosity, and love for learning. The future is bright, and this milestone is just the beginning. ✨

To our kindergarten families: congratulations on a beautiful year of growth, memories, and accomplishment. We are so proud of your graduates!

📸 We would LOVE to celebrate with you!
If you share graduation photos on Instagram, be sure to tag so we can cheer on your graduate and share in the celebration.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Because of their sacrifice, we are blessed with freedoms that many throughout history have fought to protect—including the freedom to worship, raise our families, and educate our children according to our convictions.

Memorial Day is more than the start of summer. It is a reminder that freedom has always come at a cost.

“Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” — Ronald Reagan

May we never take these blessings lightly, and may we raise the next generation with gratitude, humility, and remembrance.

Today, we honor the brave who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy. 🇺🇸

💛 One of the best ways to protect your homeschool freedom is by staying supported and informed.

SCAIHS strongly recommends joining the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting homeschool families and defending the future of homeschooling.

For decades, HSLDA has worked to:
✔ Advocate for homeschool freedom
✔ Provide legal support and guidance
✔ Protect parental rights
✔ Equip and encourage homeschool families nationwide

As an SCAIHS member, you receive a discount on your HSLDA membership.

📖 Our latest blog was written for the parent learning as they go and choosing this path with courage anyway.

💛 To the parent starting homeschooling without a blueprint…

You didn’t grow up this way.
You weren’t handed a guide.
And still—you chose something different for your children.

That’s brave.

So many first-generation homeschool parents quietly wonder:
✨ *Am I doing this right?*
✨ *What if I mess this up?*

But homeschooling isn’t about recreating school at home or having all the answers from day one.

It’s about building something intentional.
Something connected.
Something that truly fits your family.

And you don’t have to figure it out alone.

At SCAIHS, we walk alongside families every step of the way with support, guidance, and encouragement for the journey.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!

Homeschool parents, you wear more hats than any teacher handbook could have prepared you for: instructor, curriculum director, recess monitor, lunch lady, and occasionally student (because somehow they always ask the question you don't know the answer to).

It's not always glamorous, but it's real, it's brave, and it matters more than you know. HSLDA is grateful to be in your corner all 365 days of the school year!

You’re the first. And that matters. 💛

You didn’t grow up homeschooled.
You weren’t handed a guide.
You didn’t see this modeled for you.

And yet—you chose this.

You chose something different for your children… without having all the answers.

That’s not small. That’s brave.

✨ Most first-generation homeschool parents are quietly asking:
Am I doing this right?
What if I mess this up?

But here’s the truth:

There isn’t one “right” way to homeschool.

You’re not behind.
You’re not missing something.
You’re building something new.

And what you’re building—connection, confidence, a love of learning—matters more than you think.

At SCAIHS, we walk alongside families just like yours every day.
We’re here to answer questions, offer guidance, and remind you that you don’t have to figure this out alone.

Do You *Have* to Join a Homeschool Co-Op?

It’s one of the first questions many families ask when they start homeschooling…

“Are we missing something if we don’t?”
“Is this something we’re supposed to do?”

Here’s the truth:

A homeschool co-op is simply a group of families who come together to share learning, resources, and community—but every co-op looks different, and every family needs something different.

Some families love them.
Some try them for a season.
Some realize their best rhythm is at home.

And all of those are valid.

Because homeschooling was never meant to be one-size-fits-all.

💛 The real question isn’t “Do we need a co-op?”
It’s: “What will help our family thrive in this season?”

If you’ve been wondering where co-ops fit into your homeschool journey, we just shared a blog that walks you through:
✔ What a co-op actually is
✔ The different types you’ll find
✔ How to decide if it’s right for your family
