We had a wonderful time raising awareness about human trafficking at the State Fair alongside Muffin and Mia, the Therapy Horses!

Kristin Schafer, Program Manager at SCNCAC, and Shellie Keisler, Dickerson CAC Board Member and FNE, helped share important information about human trafficking with both children and adults while assisting with the special visits from Muffin and Mia.

Events like these provide a great opportunity to educate our community, raise awareness, and help people recognize the importance of prevention and protecting our children. We are so grateful for the opportunity to connect with families and share these important resources!

On Friday, October 16th, SCNCAC staff participated in the 4th annual DSS Trunk-or-Treat Community Event in Richland county.

SCNCAC was able to hand out candy and treats to over 500 families while also educating them on the services and programs that Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs) provide to communities across the state.

On Saturday, October 17th, SCNCAC staff were on hand to support South Carolina's first responder agencies at the 2026 Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Tournament. SCNCAC is honored to have been chosen as the beneficiary of this year's event. SCNCAC accepted the tournament's donation and reminded players and attendees that these funds will support services to the over 14,000 children that Children's Advocacy Centers help each year in South Carolina. We extend our sincere thanks to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division - SLED and all who donated to the event, as well as every player and attendee who came out to support!

Come out and support South Carolina’s first responders at the 2026 Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Tournament this Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Melvin Park in Chapin!

🎉 Opening Ceremony: 8:00 a.m.
⚾ First Pitch: 8:30 a.m.
📍 Melvin Park: 370 Eptings Camp Road, Chapin, SC

This event is about more than softball. All donations collected throughout the tournament will benefit the South Carolina Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers, supporting Children’s Advocacy Center programs and the children and families they serve across our state.

This year’s tournament will feature 10 teams representing law enforcement, fire service, military, and other first responder agencies from across South Carolina.

Bring your family, cheer on your favorite first responder team, and help us make a difference for a great cause!

In a new op-ed featured in The Post and Courier, our President & CEO breaks down why South Carolina’s child abuse victims desperately need the federal support only Congress can provide.

As South Carolina has grown, so has the number of child abuse cases across the state. South Carolina's Children's Advocacy Centers do a lot for us with little funding. That needs to change.

We are so grateful to SLED for hosting the annual Battle of the Badges First Responder Charity Softball Tournament and choosing the South Carolina Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers as the beneficiary of donations raised through the event.

Thank you, SLED, for your continued support of South Carolina’s children and for giving our first responder community another opportunity to come together in support of the children we serve. We are honored to be part of this event!

SLED Recruiting Teams for Annual Battle of the Badges First Responder Charity Softball Tournament

SLED’s Battle of the Badges First Responder Charity Softball Tournament has three team spots remaining. Each team must consist of employees from the same first responder agency.

The tournament will be held on Oct. 17, 2026, starting at 8 AM at Melvin Park, located at 370 Eptings Camp Road in Chapin, South Carolina.

Interested agencies should contact Lieutenant Corey Wilson at [email protected].

Donations collected throughout the tournament will go to support the South Carolina Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers.
