💚 Happy Earth Day!
♻️ Caring for the Earth is a theme that Charles M. Schulz reinforced throughout Peanuts. His wife and our founder, Jean Schulz, has been a dedicated recycler since the 1960s and is passionate about environmental advocacy.
In following their example, the Schulz Museum is devoted to keeping our carbon footprint small through sustainable actions, including:
▫️ Native, low-water landscaping. A protective deck was built around the roots of the 100-year-old redwood tree in our courtyard.
▫️ 11,000 square feet of solar panels over our parking lot provide 90% of the Museum’s electrical needs.
▫️ Exhibitions use upcycled furniture, props, frames, and flooring; gently used frames and materials are donated to local art programs.
▫️ In our galleries, fabric, wood, and paper are used in lieu of printing on plastic.
▫️ Restrooms have low-water flushing toilets and automatic lights.
▫️ Our camps for kids emphasize creative repurposing through recycled materials.
▫️ Staff breakroom and events avoid single-use utensils and tableware.
🌏 We hope you feel inspired to do something kind to the Earth today, and every day!
