Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity, building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter since 1985.

Since our beginning in 1985, Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity has helped more than 275 families and individuals across the Midlands realize the dream of homeownership. Our candidate homeowners are chosen based upon need, ability to pay an interest free mortgage, and willingness to partner with our ministry in performing 300 hours of service. This service includes participating in construction of Habitat houses, completing a required series of 13 workshops which emphasize homeownership and taking part in financial counseling. Our ability to provide affordable housing depends upon financial support from donors and volunteer labor for construction. We also recycle funds from our interest free mortgages into construction of new homes.

On a Habitat build site, the volunteer who brings sandwiches matters as much as the one holding the hammer.

Every hand counts. The most important ones belong to the future homeowner, working alongside the crew to frame the house their family will own.

Steve Davis, our VP of Construction, has been building homes in the Midlands for years.

But this fall, he has a different kind of build in mind. A community built on the simple belief that everyone deserves a safe place to call home and that neighbors should show up for one another.

This fall, we're launching our Love Your Neighbor Campaign, a movement rooted in the belief that our well-being is connected to the people around us. That when we show up for our neighbors, we build something none of us can build alone.
