Funds raised through SECCEA are used to support the expansion of outreach programs for adults, as well as local public schools. SECCEA continuing adult education classes are designed to provide an interactive and rewarding experience for those who participate. Classes provide both lectures on specific topics being studied, as well as working studio time. Some classes will also include off campus e
xcursions to locations of significant relevance with their course material. As an example, the Icons class will be visiting a local Orthodox church to better appreciate what role icons play in the orthodox tradition. Each class will provide a specific take away. For instance, in the “Foundations for Oil Painting” class, a finished painting will be created. In the “Icons; Windows to Another Dimension” class, an icon will be completed during the studio class sessions. Instructors and any adult attending SECCEA continuing adult education classes will be given a certificate of credit accomplishment. Average classes will be ten sessions, each class session is about two hours. Also on average approximately two hours will be spent with out of class preparations. Therefore, each student will receive documentation from the program certifying at least no less than 40 hours of credit have been earned from the course. (credits will vary from 40 to 60 hours) Instructors are eligible to submit these hours toward meeting their annual Continuing Education Units for mandatory state certification requirements. Dates:
