Oseh members, friends, parents, and alumni,
Sorry to be bringing you bad news tonight. Mitch Liebeskind, former Oseh Godol, lifetime member, and advisor, has passed. Mitch was in Oseh at its very beginning, and without his years of service as an incredible member, Godol, and advisor for over a decade, Oseh would definitely not be the same. His contributions not just to the chapter but to the international order have left an impact on thousands of Jewish teens. Let us honor Mitch's memory and ensure that the incredible impact he made on Oseh, DC Council, and BBYO as a whole is never forgotten. We send our thoughts and prayers to Mitch's friends and family. We are and always will be his brothers and sisters here in Oseh Shalom BBYO #5261.
Alav Ha-Shalom
We regret to inform you that our dear friend Mitch Liebeskind passed away this morning. Mitch was a beloved former chapter advisor and professional of BBYO.
Since Mitch's earliest days as an Aleph in the mid-90s, he lived BBYO to the fullest. Following his membership years, he served as a loving advisor for Oseh Shalom BBYO in Howard County for over a decade, becoming the greatest "big brother" one could ever want to hundreds of Howard County Jewish teens. Mitch joined the NRE staff team for five years, and helped build the BBYO Northern Region East we all know today. He staffed many CLTC summers, introduced Israel to hundreds of teens by staffing numerous tours of March of the Living, and was a staple (and stage!) personality at so many International Conventions. Mitch was compassionate, loyal, and a constant source of energy, fun, and laughter. He deeply believed in what BBYO could do for Jewish teens because BBYO had shaped who he became as an adult. Mitch was to be married this coming weekend surrounded by generations of the lives that he touched, inspired, and guided over the last 20+ years.
Our thoughts and love are with Mitch's family and friends at this time. May his memory be a blessing for us all.
