Chris Wood's appeal for the Roadless Rule:
I have a simple and straightforward request. Please comment on the Department of Agriculture’s proposal to rescind the Roadless Area Conservation Rule of 2001. The roadless rule protects 58.5 million acres of some of the best fish and wildlife habitat on the planet. The deadline to comment is 9/21.
Then share the link, https://www.tu.org/conservation/action-center/?vvsrc=%2fCampaigns%2f139299%2fRespond, with your friends, family, and your bookie, Louie. Please share it on your social networks if you are active there, too. These are our darn lands, and our voices should matter in how they are managed for us.
If possible, try to make your comment personal, but numbers matter. We received a record 1.6 million comments back in 2001, I would like us to double that this time around. Having that overwhelming support will give the administration reason to pause and lay the groundwork for a future administration to reinstate protections for roadless areas. TU has done a ton of work on this issue. You can learn more here; and here is a terrific report on the topic.
So, my simple request is please comment to protect the Roadless Area Conservation Rule today.
I have done a passel of podcasts on this topic if you’d like to learn more about the issue. If you were to listen to only one, I would suggest Outdoor Life, https://podcasts.apple.com/cy/podcast/heres-why-theyre-actually-killing-the-roadless-rule/id1560573207?i=1000785968640.
Thanks for all you do for Trout Unlimited and America’s backcountry areas. Please holler if you have any questions.
Chris
It only takes a minute to stand up for clean water and healthy fisheries.
