Heart of Missouri CASA

Heart of Missouri CASA Heart of Missouri CASA speaks up for children in the family courts who’ve been abused or neglected.

Heart of Missouri CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) believes every child who has been abused or neglected deserves to have a dedicated advocate speaking up for their best interest in court, at school and in our community. To accomplish this, CASA educates and empowers community volunteers who ensure each child’s needs remain a priority in an overburdened child welfare system. When the state

steps in to protect a child’s safety because the people responsible for protecting them have not, a judge appoints a trained volunteer advocate to make independent and informed recommendations and help the judge decide what is best for the child. Volunteer advocates come from every walk of life, yet share a commitment to improving children’s lives, a willingness to learn, and an open mind towards life experiences different from their own. Volunteers complete an interview, a background check, and a 30-hour intensive training program including courtroom observation and are then sworn into their roles by a judge and assigned to a single child or a sibling group. CASA is not your typical volunteer opportunity… but we’re not looking for typical volunteers.

In observance of Juneteenth, the Heart of Missouri CASA office will be closed today, June 19.

Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to ensure all enslaved people were freed, more than two years after the Emancipation. It serves as a time to reflect on freedom, equality, and justice for all.

Maybe CASA has been popping up in your world lately — on a sign, in your feed, at an event, or in a conversation with a friend — and you’ve found yourself wondering what it really means to advocate for a child in foster care.

Join us for Meet CASA: Appetizers, Advocacy & Answers, a relaxed, in-person evening where you can learn how everyday people become powerful advocates for children in foster care.

You’ll hear what CASA volunteers do, how they are trained and supported, and how one consistent adult can make a lasting difference in a child’s life. Come early for appetizers and drinks, then stay for a short conversation, questions, and connection.

Whether you’re ready to volunteer or simply curious about CASA, this is a welcoming place to start.

June 5 & 6 were wonderful days for children in foster care in Callaway County and the CASA volunteers who advocate for them!

A heartfelt thank you to Bud and Glenda Campbell for hosting the Annual Middle Creek Golf Tournament benefitting Heart of Missouri CASA at their beautiful residence and golf course. With gorgeous weather, a fun and challenging course, warm conversations, and Glenda’s amazing lunch, it was a truly special couple of days.

This tournament is such a meaningful family effort. Glenda plants the flowers, chooses the charity, and prepares the lunch. Bud preps the course and smokes the meat. Their daughter Cassie and her family, along with friends and loved ones, help make the event welcoming and memorable for every golfer.

We are so grateful to the Campbells, Bud's sister Brenda Loeffler for sharing CASA’s work with them, and everyone who golfed, donated, bought raffle tickets, or helped make the tournament a success.

Thank you for believing children in foster care deserve hope, stability, and a caring advocate by their side.

Big news: We're hiring a Chief Operating Officer! 📣

This newly created senior leadership role exists to support HOM CASA's strategic growth, building the systems and infrastructure that allow us to serve more children in foster care across our circuit.

We have a bold goal, a clear plan, and a team deeply committed to getting there. Now we're looking for the operational leader to help us grow well.

If you know someone who is mission-driven, systems-minded and people-focused, send them our way.
