Let’s take a moment to thank Dr. Stefan Freund for 22 years of outstanding service. Last night was nothing short of magical as we celebrated the retirement of Stefan and honored the incredible legacy he leaves behind.

Surrounded by friends, musicians, and many of the key members who helped build the orchestra from the very beginning, it was a truly special evening filled with memories, laughter, and gratitude. Hearing Sally and Bruce speak about the impact Stefan has had on the orchestra over the years was both moving and inspiring. From the music to the stories shared, every moment reflected the passion, dedication, and heart Stefan poured into this organization. His influence will continue to resonate for years to come.

Thank you, Stefan, for everything you’ve given. What a beautiful night celebrating an extraordinary chapter. Thank you to all those who joined us!

Thank you to Dale Loyd for the amazing photos!

Franz Schubert (1797–1828) was an Austrian composer, one of the key figures bridging the Classical and Romantic eras in music. He was incredibly prolific despite his short life writing over 600 Lieder (songs), nine symphonies, chamber music, piano works, and masses. Schubert is especially celebrated for his melodic genius and emotional depth, particularly in his songs like Erlkönig and Ave Maria. He was part of the Viennese musical scene but never gained the same fame as Beethoven in his lifetime, often relying on close friends and small salons to perform his works.
