Every Scout deserves a trained leader.

It was an early start this morning, on my day off, but catching the sunrise over the bridge and thinking about that line above made the drive worth it. 🌅

I spent the day at the New Birth of Freedom Council’s University of Scouting taking additional leader training. I'm officially walking away with my Master's in Cub Scouting Science! I'm exhausted, but optimistic to bring some fresh ideas and new adventures back to the Pack. ⚜️🐻⛺

I also thought of a quote from Scouting's founder, Robert Baden-Powell: "Try and leave this world a little better than you found it." We are always looking for more parents to join the adventure. Reach out if you want to help guide the next generation!

I would highly encourage other leaders to please consider a little additional training to help us deliver the best scouting program and experience we can for the kids.

Yesterday was a incredible day for Pack 35!
We celebrated our annual Blue and Gold Banquet AND our Arrow of Light (AOL) Crossover. This is a massive milestone where a lot of the awards and adventures the kids have been working on this year are awarded and our oldest Cub Scout officially completes his Cub Scout journey by earning the Arrow of Light Award, and crosses over to a Scout Troop to continue his trail to Eagle.

An event like this doesn't happen without phenomenal community support, and I want to send a sincere, heartfelt thank you to the local businesses that stepped up for our kids today.

First, a massive thank you to Hinkle's Restaurantant. They went completely above and beyond in planning and executing this entire meal, delivering truly amazing service. They were incredibly generous and added such thoughtful touches like providing ice cream and juice cups for the scouts, and even a dedicated kid-friendly option alongside the main meals. The food was absolutely fantastic!

Next, we are so incredibly grateful to Aunt Cake’s Bakery for generously DONATING trays of delicious desserts. Let me tell you, the kids absolutely LOVED the cookies on that tray! (They were gone SO fast! I did not get one! haha!)

Finally, a huge thank you to Flinchbaugh's Orchard & Farm Market for DONATING a variety of amazing fruit pies. Everyone in attendance agreed that those pies were absolutely top-notch. I personally had the cherry and apple. AMAZING!. Again, THANK YOU!

We appreciate these businesses more than words can say. It takes a village to run a great Scout program, and their willingness to support an event for our local youth shows exactly what makes our community so special. Please, when you are looking for a great meal, some sweet treats, or fresh farm market goods, consider staying local and checking out these fine businesses that support our kids!

Celebrating Scout Sunday & 116 Years of Scouting! ⚜️⛪

Today was a truly special day for Pack 35. We had the privilege of celebrating Scout Sunday and the birthday of Scouting America with our community.

A heartfelt thank you to the Scouts, leaders, and families of Pack 35 and Troop 35 for participating in today’s service. Seeing our Scouts in the pews and active in the ceremony was a wonderful reflection of the Scout Law—especially being reverent and helpful to others.

We want to extend a special "Well Done!" to the Scouts who stepped up with courage to read scripture and lead parts of the service today. You did an incredible job representing our unit!

A huge thank you to Saint John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for being our Chartered Organization. We are so grateful for your continued partnership and for providing a "home" where our Pack and Troop can grow and thrive.

We also want to recognize and celebrate our Scouts who participated in Scout Sunday services at their own home churches today. Whether you were with us at St. John’s or at your own place of worship, we are proud of the dedication you show to your faith and your community.

Happy Birthday, Scouting America! Here’s to many more years of adventure, character, and service.

Our 2026 Pinewood Derby is officially in the books, and what an incredible derby it was this year.

The creativity our Scouts showed this year was next level. We had everything from a "Coca-Cola" speedster to some seriously cool Lightning McQueen look alikes hitting the track. But the best part of the whole day? Seeing the looks on the kids' faces, the total focus at the starting gate and those wild cheers when they crossed the finish line. That is exactly why we do this. It’s about the hard work they put in at the workbench and the sportsmanship they show each other.

Since we weren't able to get our old wooden track refurbished this past year like we had hoped, this was hopefully its final lap. We are officially looking to raise funds to replace it with a nice aluminum track for next year. If anyone is looking for a great cause to support this is a big one that will serve the youth of Columbia for a long time to come! Keep an eye out for our future fundraising efforts for this.

A huge thank you to all the parents from the pack and the volunteers from Troop 35 who stepped up to help with the setup, cleanup, and the snacks and food like those awesome apple-and-grape race car snacks (seriously, they looked almost too cool to eat!) and that AMAZING mac n cheese!

Here are some highlights from the photos our photographer for the event shared.

Pack 35 families feel free to drop your favorite photos or videos from the derby in the comments below! 🏁🏆

Does your son or daughter want in on the next big adventure? If you saw these photos and thought, "Man, I wish my kid was doing that!"

It’s NOT too late to join us!

We’re only halfway through our 2025-2026 scouting year. We still have many upcoming events including our Blue & Gold Banquet, Hershey Bears Scout Night Hockey Game, Maple Sugaring, Spring Campout, Family Picnic, and Summer Camp coming up.

There is always room for more families in Pack 35 here in Columbia. Whether you want to sign up a new Scout and/or lend a hand as a leader, we’d love to have you.

Did the fall activities season fly by? Or did you miss the Cub Scout sign-up back in September? It’s not too late to get in on the action!

Cub Scouting is a year-round adventure, and January is the absolute best time to jump in. Why? Because the Pinewood Derby—the most anticipated event of the year—is happening at the end of January!

Pack 35 is open to boys and girls from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Beyond the pinewood derby, our spring calendar is packed with local adventures. In addition to our Tuesday evening meetings we have coming up ....

North Museum day trip

Wow, Columbia! Just... WOW!

I am absolutely blown away and filled with so much pride right now.

Today, our Cub Scout Pack 35 and Scout Troop 35 teams spread out across all of Columbia for our annual Scouting for Food drive. We asked for your help, and to say you answered is an understatement.

I’m so thrilled to announce that thanks to your incredible generosity, our Scouts collected a grand total of 2,880 pounds of food!

Every single can, box, and bag you left on your porch is going directly to help our neighbors in need, right here in our community.

To every person who donated: Thank you. Your kindness is what makes this town such a special place to live.

And to our Scouts and parents: You kids were amazing today. You worked hard, you showed true Scout spirit, and you made a real, tangible difference. I couldn't be prouder of every single one of you. To witness the excitement and energy these young kids had from start to finish collecting and delivering all this food to the food bank was inspiring.

Thank you, Columbia, for showing up and supporting our community!

Good evening, Columbia!

This is a reminder that tomorrow morning, Saturday, November 8th, is the big day for our annual Scouting for Food drive!

Our Cub Scouts from Pack 35 and the Scouts from Troop 35 will be out in full force starting at 8:30 AM. After distributing door hangers last weekend, they are now ready to cover every street in town to collect your generous food donations from your doorsteps.

This food drive couldn't come at a more critical time. With grocery costs high and many of our neighbors feeling the pinch, our local food pantries are in greater need than ever. This drive is a core part of what it means to be a Scout. It's community service in action and a chance for them to live up to the Scout promise.

Our Scouts are ready and excited to do their part, but we can't do it without you.

If you are able to help, please place your non-perishable food donations in a bag on your doorstep where our Scouts can easily see them. They will be starting their routes at 8:30 AM sharp!

Every single can, box, and jar you set out will go directly to helping families right here in our own community.

Thank you so much for your support and generosity. This is what community is all about.

And if you see our Scouts out there, give them a wave!
