Secular Student Alliance at the University of South Carolina

Secular Student Alliance at the University of South Carolina SECULAR STUDENT ALLIANCE AT USC - Unbuckling the Bible belt since 2007! Meetings every Thursday at 6:00 in Sloan room 103 Feeling lost in the Bible belt?

Fear not, because if you don't believe in a god, you're not alone! Even in the buckle of the Bible belt, South Carolina, there exist numerous ethical, upstanding and good citizens who proclaim no faith in a higher power. In fact, people who checked the "non-religious" box on the last American Religious Identification Survey are the fastest growing minority, and the only minority which grew in ever

y state. Clearly, efforts from secular organizations such as ours are reaching out and contributing to this exciting zeitgeist of secularists who are not afraid to come out and be counted as a legitimate population in America. Come join us today to continue the Humanist tradition in our community of Columbia, SC. All students are welcome!

I just wanted to let everyone know that our meeting Thursday is cancelled, I know the school did not close campus Thursday yet, but I wanted to let you know that this week's meeting will be cancelled. Please use this time to make sure your family and friends are alright. I am hoping to see a quick recovery from the storm and will see all of you on October 20th.

In case any of you forgot, there is an election coming up. This election will have a major impact on how our country moves forward, especially with the number of Supreme Court Vacancies that the next president will likely have to fill. Not to mention that all of the seats in the House of Representatives are open for re-election along with 34 seats from the Senate. Don't let low voter turnout at this election be the reason we have a government with unfavorable views towards secularism for years to come.

I have taken the liberty to post a link to register to vote. If you aren't registered yet, let your opinions be heard and register. Don't let your voice go unheard. Your vote DOES matter.

I just wanted to let everyone know that we will not be meeting today. The officers have been talking and we just need another week to get everything transitioned fully. We will be meeting next week September 29 at 6:00 in Sloan 103 as usual. I apologize for the late notice.

Hey fellow secularists,

Due to some differences amongst faculty and student leadership, I've decided to step down as president of this club. It's been a great time with all of you and I wish you all the best. I've made so many genuine friends from this club and I wouldn't trade my experience for the world. Seeing you all every week was honestly a highlight of my week.

Please excuse the transition period as we transfer leadership. Keep a close eye here and on our email list if you want updates for the future of the club. Sadly as a result, starting today, we are no longer active until leadership roles have been refulfilled and adjusted.

Just as we start every meeting with our 'happy- stabby' introductions, I find it fitting as one last way to close out my time here. Stabby: leaving this wonderful group of people I've come to love. Happy: knowing that we've had the past wonderful three + years together as a group.

Peace and love,
Noah Harchelroad
