EMERGENCY CALL FOR PRAYER:
This past weekend, 532,000 individuals who came to the United States legally received a letter from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security terminating their legal status and requiring them and their immediate family members to to "depart the United States now." "Failure to timely depart [by April 24, 2025]," the letter said, "may have adverse immigration consequences" including "removal proceedings" or "expedited removal."
These individuals came through Humanitarian Parole, a temporary immigration status authorized by the U.S. government to allow individuals facing urgent humanitarian crises, or for other significant national interests, to enter the United States. Those whose status is being terminated are from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.
This will affect an estimated 20,000 Seventh-day Adventist members from Haiti, a country that is still in such turmoil that commercial flights to Haiti remain suspended due to ongoing security concerns since November 2024, when the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) prohibited U.S. airlines from operating in Haiti after multiple incidents where commercial aircraft were struck by gunfire. Furthermore, the U.S. Department of State has issued a Level 4 trabel advisory for Haiti, advising against travel due to increased risks such as terrorism, kidnapping, and civil unrest.
Please remember all those affected, especially our brothers and sisters from Haiti, and join us for one or more Emergency Prayer Call. Here is the invitation for the first "Emergency Prayer Evening."
