Circa 1948 Replogle 16-Inch Library Globe $495

This vintage Replogle 16-Inch Library Globe was manufactured by Replogle Globes, Inc. of Chicago and designed and edited by cartographer Gustav Brueckmann. The globe can be dated very closely by its political geography: Israel is shown as an independent nation, while Newfoundland is still shown separately from Canada, placing the map between May 1948 and March 1949. It also retains other period features, including Hawaii as a U.S. territory and the Karelo-Finnish Soviet Republic. The globe is illuminated and mounted on a traditional carved wooden floor stand with a full metal meridian. Together, its working illumination, original cartography, and narrow 1948–49 dating window make it a fascinating snapshot of the world immediately after World War II.

Beautiful late-Victorian sterling silver condiment set, hallmarked London, 1891.

Made by Josiah Williams & Co. under the registered GMJ mark of George Maudsley Jackson and retailed by Gibson & Co. Ltd., Jewellers & Silversmiths, Belfast.

The set includes:

* Four matching sterling silver salt cellars
* Four small salt spoons
* Pepper caster
* Original fitted Gibson & Co. presentation case

The hallmarks are clearly identifiable and the set is remarkably complete for being more than 130 years old.

A wonderful piece of Victorian silver with excellent presentation and history.
