CVSC is proud to once again endorse Rep. Micah Caskey, who represents House District 89 in Lexington County, including communities along the Congaree River and Three Rivers Greenway.

Rep. Caskey has built a strong record of standing up for South Carolina's land, natural resources, clean energy future, and quality of life, earning a 100% score on CVSC's 2025–2026 Legislative Scorecard. Throughout his time in the State House, Rep. Caskey has supported investments in conservation programs, efforts to protect working farmland, and policies that advance clean energy. He also supported the South Carolina Protected Land Act, helping move our state toward protecting more of the places we love as South Carolina continues to grow.

For Rep. Caskey, conservation is also about connecting communities to the outdoors. He has highlighted the West Columbia and Cayce Riverwalks as examples of how communities can embrace growth while ensuring residents have opportunities to enjoy South Carolina's natural beauty.

CVSC’s 2026 endorsements reflect this common ground and shared responsibility, with a slate that includes Republicans and Democrats running for the State House and local office across South Carolina.

CVSC is proud to endorse Rep. Brandon Newton, who represents House District 45 in Lancaster and Kershaw Counties, and has earned a 111% on CVSC's Legislative Scorecard this session.

Rep. Newton voted for every conservation priority we tracked in the 2025-2026 session, along with bonus points for sponsoring pro-conservation bills. He supported funding for the South Carolina Conservation Bank and the Department of Natural Resources, the Conservation Education Act, the Energy Conservation Building Code, and the South Carolina Protected Land Act, which helps protect more of the places we love as our state grows.

CVSC was proud to support Rep. Heather Bauer when she first ran for House District 75, representing Richland County, in 2022, again in 2024, and we are proud to endorse her once more in 2026.

Since taking office, Heather has built a strong record of standing up for the land, water, energy future, and quality of life that make Columbia and South Carolina special, earning her a 112% lifetime score on CVSC’s Legislative Scorecard.

We’re thrilled to introduce CVSC’s newest team member, Duncan Crotwell. Duncan joined CVSC this month as Government Relations Director to lead strategy and collaboration on our conservation priorities in the Statehouse lobby.

Duncan says, "My goal working in environmental and conservation policy is to ensure that 100 years from now, kids in South Carolina grow up with the same access and opportunities that I had to enjoy the pristine natural beauty of our state."

Celebrate the fall season with CVSC at an upcoming trek along our state’s breathtaking Palmetto Trail. We’re stopping in Spartanburg on October 16 and Awendaw on October 23 for coffee and a leisurely walk with environmental advocates and enthusiasts surrounded by fall colors.
