The South Carolina Philharmonic reflects the core values of our state—community, education, service, and cultural heritage. Through innovative performances and meaningful outreach, the SC Philharmonic brings music to those who need it most: schools, hospitals, prisons, neighborhoods, and beyond.

Susan Caferty, Director of Education & Community Engagement, shared an inspiring story about a child named Jalena who attended a SCPhil performance based on Aesop’s Fables. Jalena was completely captivated. Recognizing that spark, the SCPhil team made sure the experience didn’t stop there. Now in the ninth grade, Jalena is well on the way to becoming a musician.

Music has the power to bring joy, healing, confidence, and enlightenment—and this story is a perfect example of that impact.

It was easy to see how and the South Carolina Philharmonic share a commitment to serving their communities and making lives better.

Our speaker last week was Andy Broughton with the Keep on Giving Foundation, a group that empowers second chances to help transform lives and build futures.

The Keep On Giving Foundation's vision is to foster positive change by supporting youth leaving the justice systems as they embark on their journey toward a better future. Through compassion, support, and belief in human potential, they are truly changing lives—one story at a time.

Please contact Andy if your club is looking for a speaker who can motivate you to get involved with helping to show youth their potential.
