Sunrise Optimist Sunrise Optimist is a local club committed to making a positive impact on the youth of Boone County.

Our 22-23 year we donated around $17,000 to local groups like Harrisburg Bike Safety, Burn Camp, Cedar Creek Riding Center, Central Missouri Food Bank, Cinderella’s Closet, Columbia Foster and Adopt, Columbia Youth Basketball, Columbia Youth Choir, Coyote Hill, CRIBS, Daniel Boone Little League, Diamond Council, Douglass Athletic Association, DSG.org, Elementary Literacy Grant, Fun City, Hickman L

acrosse, Hickman Review, Pascale’s Pals, Piano Showcase, Rainbow House, Rock Bridge Cheerleaders, Voluntary Action Center, and Others…….

Get Ready for Bingo & Music!

The Sunrise Optimist Club of Columbia MO has long supported the Missouri Symphony League Piano Student Showcase, and now you can join the fun! Come to their Bingo Fundraiser on Saturday, April 18th at 2 PM at the Sunrise Optimist Clubhouse (2410 Parker Street). Bring a friend, enjoy an exciting afternoon of bingo, and help raise funds for talented young pianists in our community. Every game played supports the Piano Student Showcase!

A Moment That Reminds Us Why We Do This

Today was an incredibly special day at Boone County Joint Communications.

Earlier this fall, we recognized ETC Trainee Kourtney Woods with a Lifesaver Award for guiding a caller through CPR during a cardiac arrest. Today, Kourtney had the chance to meet Mike Gregory, the man whose life she helped save, along with his wife Cheryl, who performed CPR under Kourtney’s calm, steady direction.

Seeing Mike walk into our center—healthy, smiling, and doing well—was a powerful reminder of the real, lasting impact of what happens on the other end of a 911 call. Because of quick action, clear instructions, and teamwork in a moment of crisis, this family was given more time together.

We are incredibly proud of Kourtney and grateful to Mike and Cheryl for taking the time to visit and share this full-circle moment with our team. These are the moments that stay with us and remind us why every call matters.

Please join us in celebrating Kourtney and the lifesaving difference she helped make for this family and our community.
