Books and plants ... what's not to love?!

🚨 Thank you to all who attended!! If you took Purple Love Grass, it is actually Side Oats Grama (Bouteloua curtipendla)!! Luckily it is extremely similar, just different seedheads! That’s what happens when you grab flats in the dark 😅 Plant card in comments ⬇️🌾
Gardens should be spaces that not only inspire those who enjoy them, but also support the other living beings that share the Earth with us. Most modern gardening practices produce sterile or harmful landscapes that do not allow for these giving, reciprocal relationships to occur. Join Dr. Miranda Yourick, a biologist and gardener, on Sunday October 5th from 12pm to 130pm for insights into creating beautiful and vibrant gardens using native plants that spark joy and feed wildlife. Attendants will receive a bundle of native plants to take home! 🌿

We know many of you are seeing more Spotted Lanternflies. This information, prepared by Howard County Girl Scout Leila Moore for her Silver Award, will be helpful as you navigate this invasive pest.
Leila, along with Lily Tang, researched the Spotted Lanternfly and recently participated in an Ask A Master Gardener session to share their research.
Thank you Leila and Lily and congratulations on your Silver Awards!

Molly McElwee, Lacie Grisley and Ann Hackeling put on their MG hats for Pollinator Outreach at the August 23rd Ellicott City Farmers Market, They interacted with 49 adults and 8 youth and met many new homeowners. Many were struggling with what to do with their lawns and wanting to support pollinators. One of the most thoughtful conversations was with a gentleman from the local real estate organization, Bob Lucido. He was particularly interested in the Howard County Bee City Pollinator Garden templates and imagined outloud how great it would be to provide new homeowners with the appropriate templates. Just imagine if new homeowners were handed the tools to make sustainable landscape choices!
