Last week's Hopeful Voices event was an inspiring reminder of the power of art to support mental health. There was a gallery of art from local artists about mental health, a short film screening, a dance performance, and meaningful conversations about connection and support. 🎨

There's encouraging news for Howard County youth 💙 New Youth Risk Behavior Survey data from Howard County Health Department shows a major decrease in su***de attempts among high school students and big drops in alcohol, ma*****na, to***co, and va**ng use.

"Just returned from the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Annual Meeting. CGI is creating a community of doers who are taking action on the world’s most pressing challenges, together. I was inspired by the question “how do we get it right?” and by being in a room full of public, private and philanthropic leaders trying to figure that out. The Horizon Foundation was asked to participate in the Health Working Session on Advancing Maternal Health Through Public-Private Partnerships where we discussed how philanthropy, business and government can work together to improve the U.S. maternal mortality rate especially for Black and Brown women. I was thrilled to be joined by our partner, Dr. Shondelle Wilson-Frederick, Director of the Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities at the Maryland Department of Health. Maryland is a true example of how these partnerships can work!"
