🐾 Because pets are family, too. ❤️

When a family experiences a fire, flood, or other disaster, they may suddenly find themselves without the everyday things they rely on. And that includes the four-legged members of the family.

At Joey’s Closet, we believe caring for a family means caring for the whole family — paws included. 🐾
We are currently looking for donations of clean, gently used pet items, including:

🐾 Pet beds and clean bedding/blankets
🐾 Collars, leashes and harnesses
🐾 Food and water bowls
🐾 Crates and carriers in good condition
🐾 New, unopened pet food and treats
🐾 Other clean pet supplies that can safely be passed along

For health and safety reasons, we aren't accepting used pet toys, opened food or treats, or items that cannot be thoroughly cleaned.

When someone has just lost so much, being able to give their dog a bed to curl up in or having a leash and bowls for their pet may seem like a small thing.
But in that moment, small things can mean everything.
Their pet has been through the emergency right beside them. We want to help make sure they can stay safe, comfortable and together as their family begins again. ❤️

Join us at Refton Fire Company to give the gift of life!

We're asking our Joey's Closet family to help support one of our own.

For many years, Geri Gallagher has dedicated her life to serving others through the fire service. Today, Geri needs our help. If you're able, please consider donating blood at the Refton Fire Company Community Blood Drive this Saturday, July 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Every blood donation has the potential to save multiple lives, and your generosity could make all the difference for someone in need.

I'll be there throughout the day, so please stop by and say hello if you can. Even if you're unable to donate, sharing this post may help us reach someone who can.

At Joey's Closet, we believe our mission begins when someone needs help, and sometimes the greatest gift we can give is simply showing up for one another.

Today was another reminder of why Joey's Closet exists. ❤️

Earlier today, we had the privilege of helping an individual who lost everything in an apartment fire.

While no one can replace the memories that were lost, our community can help someone begin again.

Thanks to the incredible team at the Pennsylvania Furniture Mission, this individual was able to receive the furniture needed to make a new apartment feel like home.

Joey's Closet was honored to provide clothing so they could begin rebuilding with dignity.

This is exactly why our partnership means so much.

Joey's Closet is proudly housed within the Pennsylvania Furniture Mission, allowing us to work together to meet both clothing and furniture needs for families facing the unimaginable.

When you support the Pennsylvania Furniture Mission, whether through financial donations, furniture donations, or volunteering, you aren't just helping provide beds, tables, and couches. You're also helping ensure Joey's Closet has a home where we can continue serving fire victims, disaster survivors, veterans transitioning out of homelessness, and families in crisis.

It's been a little quiet here lately... but that's because we've been busy doing what Joey's Closet was created to do.

Not every act of kindness ends up in a photograph. Sometimes it's simply making sure a family has clothes after a house fire. Sometimes it's helping someone find the right resources. Sometimes it's just letting people know they aren't facing one of the worst days of their lives alone.

Joey's Closet continues to work alongside our wonderful partners at the Pennsylvania Furniture Mission to help local families recovering from disasters and hardship. Every clothing donation, every volunteer, and every person who shares this page helps us reach someone who may need us tomorrow.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this mission from the beginning. Your kindness continues to make a difference.

Because everyone deserves dignity, hope, and a fresh start. ❤️

❤️ Our Trusted Restoration Resource ❤️

At Joey’s Closet, everything we do is centered around helping people after a disaster with dignity, compassion, and care.

That’s why I’m proud to recognize Compleat Restorations as the trusted restoration resource Joey’s Closet relies on.

Behind the scenes, their team helps us make sure donated clothing, stuffed animals, and other appropriate items are professionally cleaned and ready before they are given to families following a disaster. When someone has already lost so much, we believe the things they receive should be given with the same care and dignity we would want for our own families.

But our connection goes beyond cleaning donations.

When Joey’s Closet is helping a family after a fire, water loss, or other disaster and professional restoration knowledge or assistance is needed, Compleat Restoration is the team we know we can rely on.

🇺🇸 250 years ago, a nation was born from the belief that people could build something better together.

Today, as we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, I find myself thinking about what community really means.
It means showing up.

It means helping a family who has just watched everything they own disappear in a fire.
It means helping a veteran who once served our country begin a new chapter after experiencing homelessness.

It means donating a package of diapers, a warm coat, a pair of shoes, or a stuffed animal simply because you know that somewhere, someday, someone may need it.

Joey’s Closet was built on a simple belief: when life changes in an instant, no one should have to face the next step alone.

On this historic 250th birthday of our nation, I’m grateful for every person who has donated, shared a post, offered help, or simply believed in what we are building.

This is what community looks like.
This is neighbors helping neighbors.
And to me, that is something worth celebrating.

❤️ The generosity just keeps coming.

After work today, I had the privilege of picking up another donation for Joey's Closet.

This generous donation included a bassinet, infant clothing, and baby essentials. These items will stay right here in our community, ready to help a local family after a house fire or other unexpected disaster.

One of the things I've learned is that hope often arrives in the smallest packages, a safe place for a baby to sleep, clean clothes for a child, or the everyday essentials that can make all the difference when a family has lost everything.

To the family who made this donation, thank you for trusting Joey's Closet to place these items into the hands of someone who truly needs them. Your kindness will make a difference on what may be one of the hardest days of someone's life.

🇺🇸 Celebrating America's 250th by Serving Others ❤️

As America celebrates 250 years, we're reminded that one of our greatest strengths has always been helping those in need.

Today, Joey's Closet, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Furniture Mission, is working to load a truck filled with clothing, shoes, and hygiene items that will be sent to families in Venezuela following the recent earthquakes.

These photos are just a glimpse of the loading process. As donations continue to be organized and packed, the truck will keep filling before it begins its journey.

Every bag, every box, every pair of shoes, and every hygiene item represents hope. It reminds someone facing unimaginable hardship that people they have never met care about them.

Whether we're helping a family after a house fire in our community or supporting disaster survivors around the world, compassion doesn't stop at borders. Every person deserves to know they're not facing their hardest day alone.

A heartfelt thank you to every volunteer and donor who has made this possible. Your generosity is helping bring comfort and dignity to families who need it most.

Sometimes it's the smallest acts of kindness that make the biggest difference. ❤️

Meet Delilah and her mom, Megan.

Delilah decided she wanted to donate some of her gently loved stuffed animals to Joey's Closet so another little boy or girl who has experienced a house fire or other disaster would have something soft to hold onto during a difficult time.

Before donating them, Megan and Delilah took the time to make sure every stuffed animal was clean and ready for its next home. As one final step, Joey's Closet sanitizes each stuffed animal before it's given to a child, so families can feel confident knowing they're receiving a clean, comforting friend.

Megan, you should be incredibly proud. You're raising a little girl with a heart that's already making a difference.

Thank you, Delilah, for sharing your favorite friends with children who need them most. Your kindness is going to bring comfort to kids you'll probably never meet, and that's something truly special. 🧸💜
