Gamma Iota Sigma, Lambda Chapter Carolina's International Risk Management, Insurance and Actuarial Science Collegiate Fraternity

About Gamma Iota Sigma:

In 1966, The Ohio State University became the first chapter in history. Since then over 50 chapters have been chartered throughout the United States and even Canada. On October 16th, 1976 the University of South Carolina became the Lambda Chapter. In the 2000s the chapter was suspended because the opportunities were not as great as expected. In late August of 2012 the cha

pter decided to be rechartered and become active again. About the Program at USC:

Ranked 10th in the country by US News and World Report! Risk Management and Insurance focuses on methods of developing financial protection against loss with emphasis on insurance principles, solving risk management problems, and socioeconomic security programs. This major has become a greater focus for the Darla Moore School of Business over the last several years as companies have increasingly faced more challenges around the globe. Great way to network, find out about internships, learn about job opportunities, and to build your resume.

We have a very unique opportunity for you to meet with Mr. Brian MacLean, recently retired President of The Travelers Companies and also a USC grad. As President of The Travelers, Mr. MacLean was the second highest ranking executive for one of the country's largest and most respected insurers, reporting directly to the CEO. Travelers is a $30 billion company with a market cap of nearly $35 billion. Travelers is also the only insurer listed among the 30 stocks in the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

Mr. MacLean will be here next week to share his experiences during his extraordinary 30-year career and to answer your questions as you embark upon yours! The meeting format is small groups at four different times as per below (two of which are during lunch). Dress is business casual.

In order to take advantage of this unique opportunity and maximize the number of students who can attend, please email Professor Greg Niehaus at [email protected] (and copy me at [email protected]) and indicate ALL of the dates and times that work for you.
