Have you seen AMDA’s new COVID-19 Vaccine Education Toolkit (login required to access)? It includes: Strategies for Improving Staff and Resident Confidence in the COVID-19 Vaccines; Letter from Medical Director to Residents and Families About the COVID-19 Vaccines; Education Presentation for Medical Directors About the COVID-19 Vaccine (PowerPoint); Questions and Answers about the COVID-19 Vaccines for PALTC Staff, Patients, Residents and Family Members; and more. Register for the Annual Conference; Openings Still Available for Futures Program

Come March 11-14, 2021, post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) practitioners across the country will have a unique opportunity to access cutting-edge knowledge, research, and best practices and implement them the same day. This is one of many benefits PALTC21, AMDA’s Virtual Annual Conference, has to offer. Registration is now open on the special conference website. (https://www.eventscribe.com/2021/PALTC21/) The agenda features expert speakers discussing the topics that are on the minds of practitioners everywhere: COVID-19, telemedicine/technology, advance care planning, oral care, the latest PALTC research, and much more.

There are still a few openings left for the 20th Anniversary Futures Program on March 10. If you know of anyone who is interested, please encourage them to register now.

There’s Still Time To Sign Up for the 2021 Futures Class

As you’ve probably already heard, the Futures Program is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2021. The program started as an opportunity specifically for physicians in training with a focus on medical direction. As AMDA changed and grew, however, the program expanded to include nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other advanced practice professionals.

There are still seats available for the 2021 Futures class. If you know of anyone who is interested, please encourage them to learn more and submit an application. Futures will be held on Wednesday, March 10. AMDA’s Virtual Annual Conference is March 11-14, so Futures participants can attend all four days of the program.

You also can donate and designate your gift to support the 2021 Futures Class. When processing your donation online, you will have the option to select between General Donation, Futures Program, or App Project.

Foundation Funds AMDA’s New Mobile App

Earlier this year, AMDA approached the Foundation to seek funding for a new mobile app to enable members to access the information and tools they need more easily and efficiently.

The app is scheduled to be available in early 2021. It will provide quick and easy access to COVID-19 resources; the Advance Care Planning Toolkit; telehealth application information/resources; drug application information/resources; frailty assessment and risk scoring tools; AMDA podcasts; clinical alerts; advocacy information; and more. Further enhancements will enable users to access popular AMDA products and tools, including pocket guides and the Know-It-All Series.

In addition, we want to shine a spotlight on our alumni through a series of Where Are They Now features. Please send an email to Brenda Helsing if you would like to participate. We appreciate the help!

We also are accepting applications for the 2021 Futures class. If you know of anyone who is interested, please encourage them to learn more and submit an application here. The deadline is November 16.

AMDA Announces Fully Virtual PALTC21 - The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has led the Board of Directors to make the difficult decision to commit to a fully virtual annual conference in 2021. There will not be an in-person component in San Antonio. We felt it was our responsibility to inform you of this as soon as possible so that you can make plans to join us virtually March 11-14, 2021.

LAST CALL: Nursing Facility Influenza Study Recruitment Ends July 7, 2020.

Flu season can be particularly brutal for residents of post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) facilities. A team of nationally recognized LTC researchers from Brown University are collaborating with Insight Therapeutics to begin the second year of a large-scale, quality improvement study to evaluate the impact of the annual influenza vaccine choice on LTC facility residents' hospitalization risk.

If interested in participating, go to https://join.nhflustudy.com/ to answer a brief questionnaire to see if you qualify. Participating facilities will be allocated to receive one of two Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended flu vaccines for adults at no cost. Participating facilities also will receive a free supply of the vaccine for staff. In addition, the Foundation for PALTC Medicine will receive a $100 donation for each facility that enrolls.

If you need any additional information, please contact Insight Therapeutics, LLC, at 757-625-6040 or [email protected].
