🇺🇸 Happy Independence Day from VFW Post 4969! 🇺🇸

Today, our nation celebrates 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence—a milestone that reminds us that freedom is never guaranteed. It has always depended on ordinary Americans willing to do extraordinary things in service to something greater than themselves.

For two and a half centuries, generations of patriots have answered the call—from the fields of the American Revolution to the battlefields of today. Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment have preserved the liberties we enjoy as Americans.

As veterans, we understand that the Fourth of July is more than fireworks and cookouts. It is a day to remember those who fought for our independence, those who defended it throughout our history, and those who never made it home.

On this historic Independence Day, VFW Post 4969 proudly honors every veteran, every service member, and every family who has borne the weight of defending our nation.

As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday, let us recommit ourselves to the ideals that united our founders: Liberty. Duty. Service. Unity.

From all of us at VFW Post 4969, we wish you and your family a safe, joyful, and meaningful Independence Day.

Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸

No One Does More for Veterans.

🇺🇸 Today was a great day for VFW Post 4969. 🇺🇸

Today, we had the privilege of hosting a U.S. Flag Retirement Ceremony alongside Scout Troop 103. We were honored to see approximately 35-40 members of our community come together to pay proper respect to our nation’s colors.

For many, a worn American flag is just a piece of cloth. For those who understand what it represents—the sacrifices, service, freedom, and lives given in defense of this nation—it deserves to be retired with dignity and honor.

The Scouts did an outstanding job today. It was encouraging to see young Americans learning the traditions, customs, and respect that our flag deserves. The future is bright when young people step up to preserve these traditions.

After the ceremony, Post members and officers fired up the grill and served hamburgers, hot dogs, and sides. What started as a flag retirement ceremony turned into something even more important—neighbors, veterans, families, and Scouts spending time together and building community.

This is exactly what we envision for VFW Post 4969.

Not just a building.

Not just a meeting hall.

A place where veterans, families, youth organizations, and our community can come together to honor our past, serve in the present, and invest in the future.

A special thank you to Scout Troop 103, our Post officers, members, volunteers, and everyone who attended. Your support is helping breathe new life into this Post.

Days like today remind us that while our building may be old, the mission is alive and well.

🇺🇸 U.S. Flag Retirement Ceremony 🇺🇸

Join VFW Post 4969 and our local Scouts this Saturday at 11:00 AM for a respectful and dignified U.S. Flag Retirement Ceremony.

The American flag is more than a piece of cloth—it represents the sacrifices, freedoms, and values that generations of Americans have defended. When a flag becomes worn, faded, or unserviceable, it should be retired with the honor and respect it deserves.

This is a great opportunity for veterans, families, and community members to witness and learn the proper way to retire a United States flag.

Memorial Day hits different for combat veterans.

Because we remember the faces.
The voices.
The empty seats.

We remember the men we laughed with one day… and carried the next.

For some Americans, Memorial Day is a three-day weekend.
For us, it’s personal.

It’s the sound of boots on gravel at a cemetery.
It’s standing at attention during Taps trying to keep your composure.
It’s thinking about the brothers and sisters who never got to grow old, raise families, or come home.

At Post 4969, we will never allow their sacrifice to fade into the background of American life.

Today we honor the fallen.
Not with politics.
Not with empty words.
But with remembrance, respect, and the promise that they will never be forgotten.

To our fallen brothers and sisters:
We still carry you with us.
Every single day.

Gone — but never left behind. 🇺🇸
