This past week, we had our Palmetto Aviators from McEntire Joint National Guard Base deploy in service of our Country. Will you wear R.E.D. today and every Friday to Remember them and all our Military that are Deployed?

One of the three pillars of Wreaths Across America is "Teach" — passing the value of service and sacrifice on to the next generation.

Local schools and youth groups across the Midlands often join the ceremony at Fort Jackson National Cemetery each December, learning firsthand what it means to honor a veteran. If you're a teacher, scout leader, or parent interested in bringing a group to Wreaths Day, we'd love to help connect you.

And if your family wants to teach that lesson at home, sponsoring a wreath together is a simple, meaningful way to start the conversation.

Did you know Wreaths Across America started with a simple act of kindness? In 1992, a Maine wreath company had a surplus of wreaths and donated them to be placed at Arlington National Cemetery. What began as one gesture has grown into a national mission — with over 2.7 million wreaths placed at more than 4,600 locations across the country and abroad.

Here in Columbia, our local chapter has honored veterans at Fort Jackson National Cemetery for over 15 years running.

This December, help us keep that tradition alive. $17 places one wreath and honors one veteran by name.
