Our friends in the Classics, Archaeology, and Religion (CAR) Department welcome all to a Rufus Monroe and Sofie Hougaard Paine Lecture on Religion on October 16th at 5:30 p.m. in Swallow Hall Room 101. Professor Charles Hedrick from Missouri State University will be giving a lecture titled "Nag Hammadi: Anatomy of a Manuscript Discovery". The Nag Hammadi library is a collection of early Christian and Gnostic texts discovered near the Egyptian town of Nag Hammadi in 1945.

Come join us for the 6th Annual Missouri Egyptological Symposium, co-hosted by the American Research Center in Egypt - Missouri Chapter (ARCE-MO) and the Archaeological Institute of America - Central Missouri Chapter. Eight presenters will discuss their latest research on aspects of ancient Egyptian Archaeology, with a keynote address by Dr. Didi El-Behaedi (University of Missouri - Columbia).
All paper presentations will be held in person on Saturday, September 21st. The evening before, on September 20th, we’ll have a pre-conference social event at Hexagon Alley board game cafe in Columbia, with appetizers provided. Here you'll have the chance to play a variety of board games inspired by ancient Egypt
