Give 5

Give 5 is a new program of Heart of Missouri United Way for Baby Boomers and others age 60 and older who are retired, or preparing to retire. The free program helps Boone County residents connect and engage with the community while learning how their interests and skills match volunteer opportunities at area nonprofits.

Through the program, participants in a Give 5 class typically meet one day a week for five weeks, getting to know each other as together the class goes behind the scenes at 23 impactful nonprofit organizations. Each day of Give 5 includes community learning opportunities, class bonding, lunch and snacks, and a bus tour to selected Columbia agencies. At the end of five weeks, it is hoped that each classmate will pledge to donate at least five hours per month to the charity of their choice.
