Tara Betts Bio:
Tara Betts is the author of Refuse to Disappear, Break the Habit, and Arc & Hue. She is a professor in the Peace, Conflict Studies, and Social Justice program at DePaul University and part of the faculty at the Solstice MFA program at Lasell University. Her poems, short stories, and essays have appeared in many journals and anthologies. In addition to being a Cave Canem alum and a Kimbilio fellow, Tara served as a mentor and teaching artist in Chicago and New York.

We’re pleased to announce our TWH Tribe and recent graduate of Adephi University MFA, legendary slam poet champion, as one of our facilitators rounding out the lineup for this winter retreat!!

A Cave Canem fellow, Watering Hole graduate fellow, Obsidian Foundation Fellow, Ed is a Pushcart nominee, and was the speechwriter for the Freedom Award recipients from 2017-2021 on behalf of the National Civil Rights Museum. An NAACP Image Award Nominee, Ed is a choreopoet, screenwriter, actor, a Grammy Voting Member, and a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Gamma Beta Phi. Ed is an Adephi University graduate. Ed represented the U.S. at the 2024 Olympics as a poetry ambassador. Ed is also considered the greatest poet in the history of Poetry Slam, with four World Championships and seven consecutive regional titles.

Congrats to .city (April Lim ) debut poetry collection, JOSS PAPER as the winner of the DVAN ( ) and Texas Tech University Press ( ) Open Submissions Call. April’s manuscript, JOSS PAPER was judged and selected by Mai Der Vang.

Look out for JOSS PAPER in 2027! 💐💐💐

April Lim is a Teochew-Cambodian American writer from Houston, TX. April has received fellowships and scholarships from Tin House, Kenyon Review Writers Workshop, The Watering Hole, and elsewhere. Her work has appeared in Palette Poetry, The Margins, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. She has an MFA in Poetry, and was a Fulbright Research Fellow in Cambodia. She currently resides in Dallas, TX, where she organizes Dallas Luck Club, a writing club for Asian Americans.
