Five years. Thousands of lives touched. One simple message that started it all: Girl, get up. 💚

What began with a desire to make sure no girl or woman had to navigate her hardest moments alone has grown into five years of hope, healing, community, and support.

We’ve sat in rooms where women finally felt safe enough to exhale. We’ve watched girls find their confidence and their voices. We’ve helped women access therapy when cost stood in the way. We’ve laughed together, cried together, celebrated together—and most importantly, we’ve continued to get up together.

Now, it’s time to celebrate how far we’ve come.

On Saturday, September 12th, join us at Kendra Scott as we celebrate five incredible years of Girl Get Up Society with a special anniversary shopping experience.

Last night, Girl Get Up Society had the honor of attending Central Carolina Community Foundation’s Celebration of Black Philanthropy.

The room was filled with nonprofit leaders, funders, donors, community partners, advocates, and friends all coming together to celebrate the impact and legacy of Black philanthropy in the Midlands.

One of the most meaningful moments for us was seeing Girl Get Up Society prominently featured at the entrance. It was a powerful reminder that this work is being seen, supported, and valued.

We are deeply grateful to Central Carolina Community Foundation for its continued investment in our mission and for creating intentional spaces for connection, visibility, and community.

We left feeling affirmed, inspired, and thankful for everyone who continues to believe in the work we’re doing for girls and women. 💚

Help us welcome two of the newest members of the Girl Get Up Society Board of Directors! 💚

Last night, we gathered for our board retreat and had the opportunity to officially welcome Skye Wells and Monica Smith to the team.

Skye joins us bringing her experience in marketing and communications, donor relations, and stewardship, helping us continue to strengthen how we share our story and build meaningful relationships with those who support our mission.

Monica joins us bringing expertise in governance, leadership, sponsorship, and strategy, helping us continue to grow with intention and strengthen the foundation of our organization.

We’re excited about the knowledge, perspective, and energy they both bring to Girl Get Up Society as we continue creating meaningful mental health support and opportunities for girls and women across our community.

Please help us welcome Skye and Monica to the GGUS family! 💚

Thank you so much, Central Carolina Community Foundation, for continuing to believe in and invest in the work of Girl Get Up Society. Your support has helped us grow, strengthen our organization, and continue creating spaces where girls and women can access the mental health support they deserve.

We’re truly grateful for your continued partnership and for the many ways you show up for organizations doing the work in our community. Thank you for seeing our mission, supporting our vision, and helping us keep moving it forward. 💚

This Black Philanthropy Month, we’re celebrating the generosity that strengthens the Midlands by highlighting the people and organizations making a difference in our community.

One of those organizations, Girl, Get Up Society, is creating spaces where women and girls can find hope, healing, and happiness. Through access to therapy, self-care, and support services, they are helping women and girls navigate life’s challenges while reminding them they don’t have to carry everything alone.

From participating in Midlands Gives to being part of Central Carolina Community Foundation’s Google AI Opportunity Accelerator cohort, Girl, Get Up Society continues to connect, grow, and make an impact in our community. In FY25, they also received a Multi-Year General Operating Support Grant and are continuing into year two of the Jumpstart Grant program, helping strengthen their organizational and fundraising capacity.

This Black Philanthropy Month, we’re proud to celebrate their story and the important work they are doing across the Midlands.

Some boundaries we wish we learned a little sooner.

It’s okay to say no. It’s okay to protect your peace. It’s okay to create boundaries, even with people you love.

Boundaries aren’t about shutting people out. They’re about making room for your mental health, your needs, and the version of you that deserves care too.

Maybe your younger self needed to hear this. Maybe you needed to hear it today.

Apparently, joining Girl Power comes with an initiation now… according to our Board Chair. 🤭

Do you have what it takes to be a Girl Power girl? Good news? The only real requirement is showing up ready to learn, grow, laugh, and be yourself.

Girl Power is more than a program. It’s a sisterhood where girls build confidence, protect their mental health, and discover their potential. Girls ages 13–18, we’re saving you a seat. 🫶🏾💕

Apparently nobody is safe from Friday takeovers… not even the ED. 😂

Me in 2021: “Let’s start a nonprofit.”

Me five years later: “Wait… how did we get here?” 🤣
