Dear friends here I am again asking for money from you to supporting our nonprofit Shield Ukraine, https://www.shieldukraine.us . Some of you contributed generously to the cause in the previous fundraising round. However, the war in Ukraine is, unfortunately, still going on. The enemy is strong, persistent, and most importantly numerous. More and more people - front line medics and soldiers, refugees and volunteers working in the field - need our help.
Your help does make a difference! Remember, every tourniquet bought means saved lives, every helmet means saved lives, every drone or surveillance equipment delivered to the frontline means saved lives. With our nonprofit you can be sure that your contribution does not get dissolved in huge and inert organizations. Every penny goes to support Ukrainians in need. Our help is targeted and precise. What we mean by that is we know people whom we help. Let me introduce some of these amazing people to you.
Bohdan Hnatyk is an astrophysicist working at the Astronomical Observatory at Shevchenko University in Kyiv (director 2001-2004, more about him you can find in the first comment [1]). Both of his sons went to the army to defend Ukraine against Russian aggression. One of them was killed and the other, Roman, serves in the Special Operations Forces, at the frontline. Roman is a young scientist, you can find link to his papers below [2].
Mariia Tsarenkova [3] is a student at Shevchenko University. You can guess how young she is by learning that she started her studies in 2017, so when the war broke out she was still working on her Master's at Physics Department (with specialization in Quantum Field Theory). Today she is serving in the same unit with Bohdan Hnatyk's son, Roman.
The goal is to buy them a camera drone for surveillance. The total price of the purchase, which includes the drone itself (DJI Matrice 300), controller, spare batteries for both the drone and the remote, thermal camera, is about 20,000$.
