Welcome!
Who We Are: Coalition Opposed to Violence and Extremism, (COVE) is an alliance of public and private civil rights organizations, community human relations, law enforcement, advocacy, religious and educational organizations in Maryland and the Washington, D.C. area.
What We Do: The Coalition Opposed to Violence and Extremism (COVE), formed in 1979, pursues activities that oppose, resist and eliminate bigotry, prejudice, violence, and extremism based on race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and disability. The organization is also committed to fostering an understanding and tolerance amongst diverse groups in the community.
Membership is open to any individual or organization that subscribes to the purpose, goals, and philosophy of COVE.
Our Goal: To foster peaceful coexistence among diverse groups in the community. Additionally, COVE cooperates with local, state and national leadership to develop: an awareness of the seriousness of hate crimes; an effective response to hate crimes and violence; support for the victim; and an informational clearinghouse on issues related to hate group activity and incidents of violence and extremism.
