The curved faรงade is tucked into the middle of what is now Main Bowl and The Eleventh Frame at 303 S. Main Street.

Originally built as a car and farm implement dealership in the 1930s or 40s, the buildingโ€™s architectural style was Streamline Moderne, a successor to Art Deco and unique in Columbia City.

Streamline Moderne was exemplified by its use of curved corners, strong horizontal lines, minimal ornamentation, the use of glass block, stainless steel or chrome, or glazed brick, and often had stylized nautical elements like railings, bridges, and portholes. Most of these elements were originally found on this building.

Even having been converted to a bowling alley in the early 1950s and then combined with the much older tavern to the north, the buildingโ€™s original purpose and design can still be seen if one looks up.

Even with a dreary start to the evening, the fun never stopped. Groups of friends made their way from store to store, shops filled with shoppers (we even spotted a line stretching to the back of The Mercantile!), and the streets were filled with the kind of energy that makes downtown so special.

It was a night to catch up with friends, discover something new, and make memories along the way. And seeing so many of you out enjoying the evening is what makes this event so rewarding!

Thank you to our participating downtown businesses and pop-up vendors for helping create such a fun experience! Our 9th Annual Ladies Night Out was one to remember! Here's to more nights like these in downtown Columbia City!
