In honor of Pride Month, we want to highlight the history of — one of the constituency groups which fights for “Full equality without restrictions or barriers for LGBTQIA+ individuals in our workplaces, unions, and communities, creating a Labor Movement that cherishes diversity, promotes inclusion, encourages openness, and ensures safety & dignity. Today, President-elect DeJonaé Shaw spoke with a Labor Studies classroom at University of California, Riverside about her experience in the labor movement. Thank you to Professor James Anderson for the opportunity to connect students with real conversations about leadership, organizing, and community work.

As a Kaiser nurse, USW 7600 member, nonprofit founder, and Labor Council President, DeJonaé shared her insights into the many roles labor leaders carry both in the workplace and in the community. We appreciate the students for engaging in such a thoughtful discussion and thank you again for having us!

STAND WITH REI UNION WORKERS: No contract. No sale.

REI Co-op workers have been organizing for the past four years and are STILL fighting for a first contract. Instead of living up to their supposed co-op values, REI has continued to union-bust and delay negotiations.

Skip the anniversary sale happening through May 25th and gear up with local outfitters or buy directly from brands instead.

No sale is worth funding REI’s corporate agenda. ✊

In addition to standard updates & discussion, we had a great presentation from about the resources they offer as part of the Regional Network Hubs for Immigrant Families network! Thank you and to all of our CWOP partners for your fantastic resources & advice.

The CA Workplace Outreach Project is designed to enhance workplace safety across the state, empowering community-based organizations as trusted advocates to deliver vital information on worker protections and health measures.
