✨ Please Slow Down ✨

I wanted to give a big Shout Out to our Colton Public Works Department for recently installing the new Speed Signs along Reche Canyon Road. Our canyon residents have expressed their concerns about the speeding vehicles and this is a tool that can help remind motorists to slow down and to aid law enforcement with monitoring unsafe driving conditions.

Last year, I noticed similar signs along La Cadena Drive in our city and I notified our city staff. The team got on it and placed some signs in the canyon within our city limits. Thank You! This resource is pivotal because we have beautiful wildlife in our canyon who sometimes wander into traffic. We need folks to slow down for them too.

We recently wrapped up our 2026 Colton Youth Basketball season and I have to admit, these kiddos from my Suns & Lakers grew on me. I appreciate all of their effort and dedication this past season. Keep up the great work and we hope to see you all next year. Shout out to in downtown Colton for hosting our pizza party. Also, to Coach Carlos - thank you for all your help this season! It was truly an honor to share my story with some Colton High School students. I spoke about being raised by a single mother, never meeting my father, and how my family depended on public assistance throughout much of my childhood.

Those years were not easy, but I wanted those teenagers to understand that difficult beginnings do not define your future. With perseverance, support, and belief in yourself, it’s definitely possible to reach your dreams!

SMALL BUSINESS of the WEEK. Please support your COLTON small businesses. While out and about, I came upon a Pescaderia y Carniceria at La Bodega Latina. They were proud to boast their ‘You Buy • We Fry’ slogan and their selection was on point. If you can, please check out this family owned market located at 1763 W. Valley Blvd, Colton CA 92324.

It was a privilege to recognize a truly gifted Colton hometown hero. Not only has Koa worked hard academically and athletically, but he has also volunteered hundreds of hours giving back to his Colton community. We wish him all the best as he upholds the Yellowjacket traditions and continues putting Colton on the map. Koa - we are super proud of you, your teammates, your mentors, and your coaches. Best of luck and keep chasing your dreams!

Hello Neighbors. I wanted to share my progress today based on the sensitive conversation that was recently initiated by a Reche Canyon resident.

Even over this holiday weekend, our City of Colton team stepped up and responded to my inquiries. This included our City Manager, City Attorney, City Mayor, and myself - your City Councilman. I briefed each of them about this important matter.

I also contacted the Chair of Donkeyland, Amber Levonne. I have been informed that our city is trying hard to have Donkeyland staff rescue our beautiful donkeys. There are lots of pending details, but rest assured we are working on this issue.

I would also like to publicly thank them for responding to me over their weekend. Amber was very helpful and knowledgeable of the circumstances.

However, clarity should come on Tuesday because Monday is a holiday. The concern or rumor of another company herding the donkeys will be researched thoroughly.

The original conversation sparked multiple posts to be created, which in turn caused some folks to become argumentative. I want to thank all of the residents who defended me. But based on that dialogue, this is obviously a one sided and ongoing discussion.

With that, I would respectfully and sincerely ask our canyon folks not to argue back.

Thank you.
Your Colton City Councilman,
John Echevarria

I wanted to praise our hardworking city staff for addressing our community concerns. Neighbors recently contacted me and expressed their frustration about the poor lighting at Prado Park. I informed our teams and they worked together and upgraded the lighting. Thank You for making our city parks safer and better for our community. Our teams are the best!

I was so excited to acknowledge & support one of our youngest “Colton Hometown Heroes”. In just her Freshmen year, Amanda is a high academic achiever, an exceptional athlete, and a Colton resident. She is an elite runner and broke numerous records at her high school. And because of her stellar Straight ‘A’ report card, the sponsored a gift card for her running gear. Her ultimate goal is to be the fastest female runner in GTHS history! Congratulations, Titans!
