So, as the official rules for the Spring Creek Smoke-Off mention, there are cash prizes for the winners in each judged category - but if you've been wondering, here's what they are.

Now, you'll notice it says "minimum" right there by each prize... What that means is, each prize is based on a percentage of the entry fees, so the more teams that enter, the higher the prize amounts will be!

Now, remember that this isn't a "professional" or GBA contest - this contest is for the hobbyists, enthusiasts, and folks who just plain like to grill. Prizes are great and all, but more than that we just want folks to come out, make some good (or even just good to you!) food, and enjoy time on the Square with neighbors and friends, both old and new. Don't forget, you don't even have to compete in all 3 meats - you can just enter whichever one you do best: Boston butt, chicken, or ribs. (Although you do have to do all three to qualify for the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion categories!)

We are just two weeks away from the Sring Creek Smoke Off! Now’s the time to get your team (or just yourself) registered! (And don’t forget, you don’t have to register for all three meats. Is your smoked chicken out of this world? Just bring that! Is your pulled pork practically perfect? That’s all you need!) The application and full contest rules are available on our website (link in comments), or you can come by the Chamber on Monday-Friday and register in person.

ALSO! The September Miller County Farmers Market will be that same day, so vendors don’t forget to register your booth!

We need your help, Chamber members! We've been trying for years to try to grab information and flyers from your posts to promote in our posts and emails, but a) that takes a lot of time, and b) thanks to social media algorithms and the mysterious way they prioritize, we miss things - probably a lot of things! We don't want to miss what is important to you, because you are important to us. So please - if you have something for the social media Signal Boost or for the Chamber Chatter newsletter, please email them to us at colquittmillercoc at gmail dot com. Also, don't worry if you don't have a slick graphic or perfect wording - you don't need ChatGPT, just send the the most important details (ex: where, when, what) and we'll do the rest.
(There is an edition of the Chamber Chatter newsletter going out this afternoon, so if you have anything right now, please send it over before 2PM!)

Note: promotion by the Chamber through social media, email, or other means is a benefit of Chamber membership. If you'd like information about becoming a member, please contact the Chamber.

Signal Boost!
There are some great events and opportunities in Colquitt this week and beyond!

Tonight, Christy Worthy Colgan will be sharing her testimony at Celebrate Recovery. The event will be held at the Colquitt Free Will Baptist Church, with a meal at 6PM and the program at 7PM.

Tomorrow and Wednesday from 4:30-7PM, Swamp Gravy will be holding open auditions for Swamp Gravy: Country Come To Town! As always, auditions are open to everyone, of all ages. No experience necessary!

If you're a creative type, there are a few requests for submissions! Swamp Gravy is collecting poems for the "Poetry Pavilion" to be installed at Spring Creek Park in the coming weeks. Meanwhile South Georgia Magazine is holding a photography contest! Submit your agriculture-themed photos for a chance to be printed in an upcoming issue of the magazine. Submissions for the Poetry Pavilion are due August 28th, and entries for the photography contest are due September 1st.

This Saturday, Southern Source Clothier will be hosting a jewelry popup with BC Beads! Come by between 11AM and 2PM to see what great styles they'll have available.
Miller County FFA Chapter is having a Blue & Gold Social at Cotton Hall next Monday at 6PM. Please RSVP to Amanda Long.

Miller County Hospital has a number of positions open at both the hospital and Miller Nursing Home. Make sure to check their website for a full listing of available jobs.
The Hospital will be hosting a Healthcare Discover Day on September 8th from 3-6PM at their education center, 106 N. First Street.

The Animal Rescue Alliance, Inc. is planning their annual auction and raffle, and they are in need of items for the auction. If you'd like to donate, please reach out to the rescue!

Finally, a plug for us! We need teams for our Spring Creek Smoke Off on September 12th. If you think your barbecue recipe has what it takes to win, make sure you visit our website to register! Registration closes September 8th.
