Welcome to the Colorado Springs Osteopathic Foundation - a private foundation dedicated to improving the health and well-being of our community consistent with our heritage in osteopathic medicine. Osteopathic Foundation, a hospital conversion foundation, was established as a public charity on August 14, 1984 as the result of the sale of Eisenhower Osteopathic Hospital to Summit Health Ltd. This w
as accomplished by operating an ambulatory Osteopathic family practice clinic for the underserved populations in El Paso County and surrounding areas, conducting a family practice residency training program, providing a facility to train and educate Osteopathic medical students, interns, residents and fellows in an ambulatory family practice care setting and conducting continuing medical education programs; as well as, educating the public in matters relating to Osteopathic medicine and health. Today we are still organized and operating exclusively for charitable purposes. As of July 1, 2009, the Foundation became a private, non-operating foundation. Since 2009, the Foundation has awarded more than $2,791,027.00 in health-related grants to 64 qualified nonprofit organizations in El Paso and Teller counties to benefit the uninsured and the underserved. The Foundation has awarded $1,030,000.00 in tuition scholarships to third year Osteopathic medical students with a Colorado connection. The goal of the scholarship program is to have an impact on Colorado's physician shortage. The expectation is that the scholarship recipients will return to Colorado to practice medicine once they complete their residencies and or fellowships. the goal of the Foundation's grant program is to fund solutions to address and curtail social and health related issues in El Paso and Teller counties. The Foundation has a membership of 120 individuals composed of Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine and non-D.O.s. Membership is open to anyone with an interest and a passion for the Foundation's mission.
