Modern Explorer is no longer just a platform for seeking the unknown—it’s become a full-fledged tourism and expedition business committed to reawakening the spirit of exploration in the modern world. Our mission is simple but bold: to reignite the Age of Discovery, starting in the heart of the San Luis Valley. The journey began in the childhood of founder Mateo Argüello, raised among the wonders of Ecuador, always driven by an insatiable desire to uncover the mysteries of the world and the universe. But it was a life-changing encounter with the North American hominid (Sasquatch) that shifted the path from past mysteries to living enigmas. As the team grew—especially with passionate contributors like Glenn Norberg, whose interviews, visuals, and field work elevated the mission—so did the community. What started as a search became a movement. We’re now launching Modern Explorer Expedition Tours: in-person walking tours across Crestone and beyond. Guests can experience firsthand the legends, the history, the hauntings, the UFO sightings, and even explore active trails tied to ancient Spanish gold and hidden realities. As we grow, our expeditions will reach deeper into the mountains, ancient ruins, and forgotten trails—combining citizen science, history, and immersive adventure for global audiences.

A 2026 AI acoustic study found a calibration method that lifted killer whale detection precision from 0.28 to 0.98 — and our research identified it as a direct template for beaked whale monitoring, where false positives have long made passive acoustic deployment unworkable in the field. The Ruiz et al. pipeline (arXiv:2609.01792) separates detection from classification and retrains on site-specific noise. That architecture is the transferable finding.

A mechanic in Waterloo, New York discovered approximately 300 pages of classified WWII POW testimonies hidden in a crawl space — found while clearing space for Halloween decorations in July 2026. The handwritten, first-person accounts from over 120 American soldiers were stamped SECRET and written on fragile onionskin paper, a material mid-20th-century military protocols deliberately selected for rapid field destruction. NARA's Archival Recovery Team has since recovered the documents and plans to digitize them. Documented evidence suggests the spectral imaging techniques now used to recover faded Dead Sea Scrolls text are directly applicable to these pages — and that connection is worth watching as digitization moves forward.

A Colorado officer's UAP video went federal — and the light pattern almost explains it, until you account for the silence.

Released September 18, 2026, under the PURSUE declassification program, the footage shows a silent orb at roughly 300 feet displaying red, blue, and green flashing lights. Our research found that color profile matches FAA-mandated navigation lighting for manned aircraft almost exactly. At 300 feet, a conventional aircraft producing those lights would be clearly audible. The officer reported none. PURSUE investigators with access to the full footage still classify the case as unresolved.
