INCLINE PALS: WE ARE HERE. WE ARE NOT STOPPING.
IF THEY GET A SIGN, WE GET A SIGN. NO EXCUSES.
THE INJUSTICE Right now at the base of the Manitou Incline, Incline Friends operates with official city signs, directing traffic and collecting donations. Meanwhile, Incline Pals—a volunteer group led by disabled advocates—is barred from the same visibility. The City of Manitou Springs is allowing a two-tiered system where one group has a megaphone and the rest of us are silenced.
THE REALITY We are not asking for charity. We are demanding EQUALITY.
Incline Friends has signage? We demand the same.
Incline Friends has agreements? We demand the records.
Incline Friends gets access? We demand the same.
Under the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) and ADA principles, this exclusion is unacceptable. If the City grants privileges to one, they must grant them to all.
OUR DEMANDS
IMMEDIATE SIGNAGE PERMIT: Incline Pals gets a sign at the trailhead, identical in status to Incline Friends, effective immediately.
FULL DISCLOSURE: Release all records regarding Incline Friends' signage agreements, donation logs, and inter-city contracts between Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs.
END THE DISCRIMINATION: Stop treating disabled advocates as second-class citizens.
WE ARE INCLINE PALS We are a force to be reckoned with. We clean the trails. We advocate for the disabled. And we will not stop until the City of Manitou Springs respects our right to exist and speak on public land.
We have the volunteers. We have the records. We have the law. The City has a choice: Cooperate or face the consequences of ignoring equal access.
